Indeed, mixed driving is a mild understatement for most test drives...
27mpg not bad in that context.
As an aside, some nice photos [url] http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/2013-ran...w-pictures from Autocar as part of their 1000 mls road test.
LR seems to be a touch liberal with their scale too, tehy measured 2,600kg a cheeky 265kg more than advertised must be few heavy options Shocked

TD6 - SDV8 residuals

Got a quote today from dealer using LR finance numbers.
Guaranteed Value after 3 yr based on 12k mld is 31,300 based on a £87k Vogue SE TD6 with few options.
On the SD V8, £94k spec, same parameters £32k GMFV.
So from LR (hopefully low) estimates of future value, 3 yrs out SDV8 will depreciate a fair bit more, extra £7k upfront will be less than 1,000 3 yrs out...
In both cases a pretty shocking depreciation mind, 64% for the TD6, 67% for the SDV8 ouch Shocked
Appreciate manufacturers go for low value to be on the safe side but that's very aggressive by any standard.

Autocar weigh with a full tank and two people on board, presumably LR don't.

Never-never figures are hardly surprising - they're only in it to make money after all - just highlights the financial suicide of financing a heavily-depreciating asset. No surprise the SDV8 will depreciate more given that there isn't a V6 badge on the cheaper one ...

One might argue that either way, dropping £62K in 3 yrs on a car is suicidal Laughing
Many of us do it because we like cars for various reasons. However if anybody came to us with an investment proposition saying it would allow us to move freely around, but the guaranteed return would be -65% over 3 yrs and there would be some teething issues with the new concept, I would guess we would politely (or not!) dismissed him Wink
Even in a challenging envt for returns, I suspect the above can be easily beaten...
In any case, I would have assumed the V8 to still command a premium in resale, would be interesting to see how the TD6 Hybrid is positioned, it is likely to be priced in line to the V8

You only have to look at Dealers pricing on a TDV6 sport against a TDV8 Sport , TDV8 sports always sell and all the ones i have seen command higher used prices. Far to many gone...
