Was going to go for the TDV8 as thats what my 2012 Westminster is....however after actually driving the new TDV6 I can honestly say its astonishing.....its quicker or as quick as my 4.4 and feels superb.

Driven the new SDV8 and the New TDV6 , chalk and cheese V6 lacks grunt once moving and off the line quite a bit slower in real world than the current TDV8 even with the extra 500 Kilos , also if you were going to tow anything again SDV8 wins hands down, My dealer has 29 orders on his books just 3 are TDV6 4, are Superchargers the rest SDV8's On new tight engines i showed 29 on the 3.0 and 28 on the SDV8 so not even worth worrying about fuel. Far to many gone... |

Yes....the 4.4 is quicker but not that noticeablke at all,I have owned every version over 10 years, the SC was by far the drivers car,the 4.4TDV8 sublime and the TD6 very much Ice cream van however the new TDV6 is on a par with my TDV8 IMO and thats enough for me. My dealer has 25 TDV6 orders...5 TDV8 and not a single SC order.Come resale time the TDV6 will be the one most people want as its half the road tax costs and better economy etc. Top that with the top spec Autobiography and thats why I made my choice,oh yes and also Black with Ivory again! If you have nothing nice to say,say nothing at all. |

Don't expect that much better out of the new SDv6 i have it in a new Disco here for 4 months now returns mixed at 29.3 against my far heavier full Fat 4.4TDv8 which returns 28, both on 8 speed gearbox of course. Road tax hmm if you are buying a 95K car then £140 a year diff in road fund lic should not come into the equation IMO.

I concur with previous poster about split on engines, almost all V8 and top spec, am surprised your dealer is total opposite, the 3 I have spoken to all the same. I guess it must be regional. All the changeover people, coming from SC or current V8 seem to view the V6 as poverty spec, though clearly it has had good reviews and few will have driven it before ordering, so maybe over time there will be a shift. Personally I would have a V8 out of principle in a FF. |
