Had to happen...

Had to run an errand so decided I would take the FFRR, it's been sitting in the garage for the last 6 weeks and the bonnet was not latched properly closed, so I lifted it and dropped it down to close it, but it sprung back up. Further investigation revealed that the spring inside the latch is fubarred so I have ordered 2 new latches and 3 new cables from Dan.

Typical LR, when you want them to work they refuse Laughing Laughing

Well knowing LR if I change one part the next part will break, so I might as well change the lot at once as they're not too expensive Laughing Laughing

Fook of ya fud, at least it starts, I just don't fancy the bonnet popping up at 70mph Big Cry Big Cry Had the bonnet closed I was going to phone you when I was starting it Laughing Laughing Laughing

Just been out and spent 20 minutes freeing the seized latch off, I soaked it in a tub of WD40 this afternoon hoping it would help but it was still sticking, so blew 120psi of air through it to clean out any crap, but it was still sticking, so I clamped it in the vice and bent the top plate a little which seems to have freed it off so I guess it must be full of rust inside. I would open it up but there is a stupid big rivet holding it together along with a couple of bent tabs so for £7 it's not worth the hassle.

Probably best replaced now before any cables snap or before the bonnet pops open when driving down the motorway
