EAS DRAMAS - Meltdown Imminent

Hello all, minor DIY melt down imminent.

It all started a little time ago with a vibration, ooh err missus.

The sound and vibration seemed to be coming from rear left.

Then all of a sudden, one winters day...

The dreaded Air Susp Inactive message on dash and lights out on centre console control. No Lighty, No Likey!
Had the code cleared, £40, message gone, lights on, all fully functioning for 2-3 weeks.
Message reappeared, cleared £30, ran for about a day, message appeared again.
Using this place and other forums, chatting to Meerbusch via email, Land Rover "Specialists", garages, sneakily Land Rover service mechanic and others.
Code read by so called "Specialists" and it came up "Requires too much regulation: Rear Left". So... Changed rear left suspension air spring. Code cleared, ran for a while.
Message back, Lights out, suspension remained at normal height.

In my humblest of opinions, with plenty of outside advice, the EAS compressor seemed to be on the way out, so bought a kit off Meerbusch, carried out kitchen work top refurb Laughing Compressor now functioning and sounds powerful Very Happy

Also recently bought an RSW Allcomms that arrived the other morning and I gleefully opened it up and read all the codes on the car... Embarassed saddo.

However...(cue dramatic violins) after compressor refurb and refit Whistle I cleared the fault with the new toy and the compressor fired into life. Turned steering full left and full right holding for a second or two at each extreme, as read this was a good idea. Lights returned to EAS Controller in centre console, and compressor continued to roar away. Light was solid next to Normal Height. I thought it may be an idea to cycle the heights to inflate the bags and work the system a little, plus wanted to check functionality.

When I selected the off road height, compressor was off and light flashed as if functioning to raise, however not even the slightest raise in actual height, and light flashing ad infinitum... So... I flicked the controller down slightly as if to cancel the command and the light stopped flashing next to the off road height, the normal height light remained solid, and the compressor ran again, and then stopped as normal, as if topping the resevoir.

In the past when I selected the off road height, the compressor would function throughout the transition.

I then thought... select the access height, did so, and the compressor functioned... in the past it didnt function, but the sound of air being exhausted ... confused.com / wtf? ... so ...

I am now left with a lovely looking parking space saver, and the front end seems to be at access height or lower and the rear appears to be at either access or normal... Censored

Have I jumped the gun too quickly and it needs to work itself out? or am I up the creek minus preverbial paddle? Have I done something incorrectly?

All ideas and advice welcomed...

I didn't have the spring, or at least do not have the spring now ... could this cause it?

Should really have changed both rear air springs at the same time, but some don't.....

Any codes from RSW? .

Yeah, I thought about that at the time Joe90, new to air suspension so thought maybe the bags wouldn't have to be in pairs as self adjusting? Schoolboy, I know for next time.

No codes since i cleared it after I reinstalled the compressor... last code seen was the too much regulation required RSW ALL COMMS IN DORSET

A couple of things to try:

1. Battery Disconnect Procedure

2. Height Calibration using the All Comms (scary first time, but you have nothing to lose?)

Confused Funny you should say that, I was just looking at the video for a calibration when your reply came through

By the Battery Disconnect procedure? are we talking disconnect and leave off for 15 mins, then reconnect? or something more in depth?

yeah...being in the military leads to a cynical viewpoint on most of life, so there has to be a happy outlook on such a beautiful machine! just a bottomless pit for DIY experience now! RSW ALL COMMS IN DORSET

Joe, before you start re-calibrating, have you tried lowering the car into access mode? You say it wont go up, but will it go down? If it does, let the car run for around ten mins (to build up air) then try to achieve normal height...

I'll wait to here what this does before we go any further...

SOMETHING IS MOVING OUT THERE!!!!!

After a flat battery this morning, my guess being the 6 hour wake up cycle has been trying to pump the car up on battery power. I jumped the car off the missus' motor, reset the steering, left then right, and went out for a drive, sold an old banger, (car not girlfriend) Laughing and then left the car running as I topped the tyres up and generally tinkered around with other cars, drank brews etc.

It seemed to have acheived the normal height while we were driving, lifting the front back up to what seems like normal anyway, back end not really having to move.
Then I tried to cycle to access height and leave it running for a while, the compressor functioned, the air exhaust seemed to function and the car seems to have dropped. Mad

However I left the car going for about 25 mins and even drove it around slowly. The compressor functions and seems to be outputting but no height change is effecting...

I am at the end of all feasible answers and think that the Twisted Evil Air Suspension pixies Twisted Evil are gonna get a kicking if they dont sort themselves out soon. Mad

Any idea or thoughts welcome RSW ALL COMMS IN DORSET

I'd get it on a diagnostic and see if a sensor is playing up.

Is the compressor running all the time?

its possible there is a kink in the system and the correct flow isnt getting through Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.
