Consider an Irish Wolfhound, they are brilliant. Very friendly, relaxed, sweet. I had one for 8 years (from pup till death) and he never hurt anyone (apart from standing on your toes and that hurts a bit considering his weight). Towards other dogs he was very good, never picked fights and hardly ever bit back (which is great because they are very strong). With kids I absolutely trusted him, although never took any chances there.

Hi, i have a dog grooming business and we see lots of different breeds. Labradors and retrievers would make an excellent family choice. Just remember that as long as you're prepared to give them plenty of exercise and time you'll do fine.

We have collected our new addition, a little boy Golden Retriever named Chester. 10 weeks old and over 10kg! He is so laid back and well behaved, even barks at the patio doors to be let out for a splash! Still very much a puppy and into everything though. He's been out in the RR everyday and fortunately, doesn't appear to be too phased by travelling (must appreciate travelling in style)

Our Chester is now 6 months old, weighs over 25kg and is just great. Apart from straining at the lead to meet new dogs and people to pat him, he is the best!
