more electrical problems

Hello again folks.
I've got yet more bad elcetrical problems, it appears my TD6 really does not like the cold.
Yesterday the car was fine.
This morning. No indication on the dash at first, no radio etc, etc.
I tried the battery reset twice but it didn't work and now the main fan is constantly running.
Even though the car is cold, the fan comes on as soon as I turn the key. I can't find the fuse, 61 according to the handbook so I have disconnecteed the plug in the engine bay.

Any offers on this please.

Thanks.

Ok a quick update.
I left the battery disconnected for a few hours this afternoon.
Now, rev counter working, fuel gauge, radio not displaying german text!
Plugged fan back in and it didn't automatically come on.
Only thing now is the handbrake and abs lights etc are staying lit when the engine is running.

Battery is new and reading 14.18 v when running.

Cheers

That did work today but...
Started it and all was normal except for 'high range selected'.
So, turned it off, and back on. Then, no power steering, no wipers, no clocks working.
It all came back to life as normal after 5 mins driving!!!

No idea what's going on but it's got a mind of it's own.

I would go for a new battery. I just got a new Bosch S5 £113 with 5% cash Bach using quidco. It's a big mother and car starts easier and seem to have less electrical gremlins. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

If batttery quite new, worth getting the alternator and circuitry checked out .

Double check the battery has the correct amperage for the vehicle. We've had a few recently where they have been fitted with smaller batteries from the likes of Andrew Pages etc. If you need any advise I'm only in Leeds just give me a call.
Thanks

Battery age is no guarantee of condition. I had to have a 110 amp/hour Bosch battery replaced after 11 months as it was running out of amps. Voltage was OK according to the multimeter, but still had issues with electrics on start up. (Alternator was also new last year and is performing correctly and reconditioning charge with a ctek couldn't save the Bosch battery. Interestingly the original 5 year old battery which was almost entirely discharged when the alternator failed last year is almost 100% restored after being reconditioned with the ctek)

I don't rate the Bosch ones that highly anymore. They don't seem to have the reserve you get from a genuine or other makes. We are been replacing units with the new AGM Banner batteries with good results.
