Squirming

Hi, I've just fitted two new tyres on the front , the rears have around four mm left ,, since doing so the car seems to squirm , as if I've fallen into the ruts in the road off the trucks , or hitting a patch of ice ,, if I accelerate its noticeable then too, wheel nuts checked , tyre pressures checked , any ideas ? It's a 2003 td6

IMHO it's always a false economy to change tyres two at a time on a 4X4 - especially if they aren't matching tyres in the first place.

I suspect the dodgy handling is down to mis-matched tyres, made worse by the different rolling diameter of new versus worn, mismatched tread patterns etc.

Get all four the same type and you'll probably be OK. Never worth skimping on tyres or brakes with a 2 tonne car.

in an ideal world i agree with Simon ^^^ but economics sometime dictate that you can only change 2 tyres at one time....
check that both tyres are fitted properly on the rim , recheck pressures and if the wheels are fitted on the range properly...you could also put these on the back of the range to see it solves your problem....
..if all else fails ,go back o the dealer and complain... ... - .- -.

Economics... Pah...

Just buy four tyres and be done with it. You don't want them spending your savings on a funeral.

I've got Kumho KL12's on mine but both changes have always been all 4 at once. I've never had a squirming problem on the 4.4 or the 4.6 turbo (5 sets on the turbo)

When was the last time your alignment was adjusted (all 4 wheels !!!!) ??

Also have your suspension checked for play on the rubbers etc. Just to be sure. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
