Need advice on rear fusebox and piggyback fuse holder thing.

All the fuses/connectors in the fuse block appear to be live all the time.

If I use an empty fuse connector with the piggyback (with a fuse in the top slot in line with the cable) one way round I get no power, the other way round I get power. If piggyback used with two fuses I get power. This all with ignition off, keys out.

Looks like I need to track down an ignition live on this side of the car, or dive back to the left hand side where I know I have one for the radio/tv/satnav. Help and advice appreciated on this (and on using the piggyback correctly).

Joe, this is the wiring diagram for the rear fuseboard and it definitely shows fuse 8 as ignition controlled and un-used.
As is fuse 5 also.
I haven't checked this on the car but the diagrams are usually accurate.
You could piggy back on any of the ignition controlled fuses it doesn't have to be unused.
Are your leds white or red?

I'll give Fuses 5 & 8 another go tomorrow, but no matter what I tried they were either on without ignition or just not on at all.

Is it something to do with my earth connection. I am using the one where the trailer leads come in in the spare tyre area. There is a "white" wire connected there which I "piggybacked" onto (not to be confused with other piggybacking references)  .

Try putting an earth wire onto one of the bolts on the metal work above the fuseboard. Thats what I used for my supplementary reverse lights.

Hmmm... looking at my electrical circuit diagrams shows Fuse 8 on battery and only Fuse 5 on Ignition? Different for LHD/US ?

I can't explain the diference between the two wiring diagrams.
Where does your diagram originate?
Both diagrams show fuse 5 as ignition controlled though and unused.
Might have a look at my car tomorrow and check 5 and 8.

If not, on the bumper, you simply shove a flat bladed screwdriver in at the top of the reflector and lever out. They are held in place with a spring clip. Powerfuluk do a video on gaylander which has much the same reflector.

See photos in gallery for splitting the reflector (red bit) from the backing panel (grey bit).

Ahh Joe... Now i feel daft! I thought you were going to stick LED's on the outside of your rear lights over the red reflectors...

The results thus far look good pal, just got the wrong end of the stick

I think mine is My2003 NAS LHD so V8 only, hence the difference?

Looks interesting.. But is it legal?? Could they be confused with brake lights on all the time or even fogs. The most annoying thing is when it is raining and some prat has left, or put, their fog light on. I'm thinking you might get pulled over for this. I suppose it depends how bright they are tho'.... Previously..

They look good, but I too wondered about the fog/brake confusion thing.

Am I right in thinking DRL's should go off when you put the sidelights/normal lights on ? Obviously depending how they are wired.

In which case, you'd normally have some lights on in rainy / bad conditions, so the rear DRL's would be off.......if you see what I mean.

But lit rear reflectors are not fog or brake lights.
If stopped you can easily demonstrate this by applying the brakes and switching on the fog lights.

Agreed. But I was thinking about the masses out there, who struggle to steer and use the pedals at the same time, let alone figure out what the lights might be.

Obviously if they are not too bright, there need not be an issue, but you know what people are like, if they are fairly bright, they'll flash you and all sorts of stuff. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
