Thanks for both sets of advice i'll have to point out that the diesel advice came from the dealer I bought the car from not where the car is currently having diagnostic checks run on it.

It sounds to me, if it's only happening from startup and when the temperature is cold that maybe you've got a glowplug or two not working. They are not expensive and should be treated as consumable items really - they are about the same to change (in terms of complexity) as a spark plug. It would make sense, then as the engine warms up, the cylinders without the assistance of the glow-plug (really a heater plug as a glow plug is something specific to semi-diesels), would eventually join in with the others anyway. I'd be inclined to pop a full set in - especially with a forecast of colder weather to come. |

Interesting, I did think it was down to the temperature but it happened on saturday when it was a practically tropical 9 degrees. I will mention it to the dealer later on dependent on what they come back with but again another avenue to persue. May just replace them for the hell of it for piece of mind anyway. |

I've heard of a few problems with the EGR valves on the TDV8s |

You hit the nail on the head! Warranty company coming out on Monday to approve the work - apparently mine has a problem so its being replaced.... all under warranty. Out of interest how much do these cost (should I not have had a warranty in place). |

Let us know if you continue to have no issues, this type of thread is going to be increasingly important as more and more TDV8s change hands and become more affordable. Discovery 4 HSE

I have a similar juddering when on low throttle inputs and at low speed. Thought it might have been torque converter. Interestingly, diagnostics showed an intermittently faulty EGR valve, which was causing a greater than normal throttle lag wen pulling off from stationary.
