Bi Xenons or not

Can anyone help - I have two lamps on the front of my FF which never illuminate within the side light housing.
They do not look like a normal lamp, are they the Bi Xenons which are supposed to work when turning?

I have looked to see whether they come on with different switch configurations or when the steering wheel is turned but they do not..is this something that can be checked with the IID Tool?

Any ideas or suggestions - the FF is a 2006 TD6 many thanks

Do they have Bulbs with a black top on or are they a chrome cover? If a chrome cover then your car is not equipt... If a bulb then either you fall into the category "they have never worked from factory" or something has broken... Do your lights move from side to side round bends at night?

Does anyone have any suggestions or a starting point for testing or checking?

Can this be checked with the IID Tool?

Do you have two big Ballast units 1 outside each light? Should have a sticker on it woorning of high voltage, be very careful working around Xenon ballasts as there is a nice 20,000 Volts in there that will hurt you a lot!

Hi Craig I may have been hasty and misinformed you as to the colour of the bulbs - they looked black when I first looked but having looked again they appear chrome.

Can you tell me what the difference is between the black and chrome?
Should they illuminate as a normal lamp?

Many thanks

I think you will find you are looking at the blanking plugs for the cornering lights, they have nothing to do with the bi-xenon’s they are in fact part of the adaptive system, if your car has it, the adaptive system works with your head lights and moves the head lamp lens, you will see this when you start your car with the lights on, if you are close to a wall you will see the lights move up and down then left and right, if you have this the you may have cornering lights and these work at low speed when turning, IE going into a drive or out of a car park. You are looking for halogen bulb, they can be seen quite clearly, and if you can’t then I would say you have the blanking plugs fitted,
Just one thing, cornering lights have burnt many a headlight due to the wattage and heat generated. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
