I think the Figured Macassar is more like old MB Zebrano - the stripy wood in the show car isn't available yet (at least over here).

They seem to be making a big effort to make these cars so blingy and tacky! Sad state of affairs. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

I'm sure that is the real reason - so many are "improved" by the sort of people you wouldn't want to be sat next to at dinner that LR want some of that market. Gerry McGovern, quoted in Car: " We're pushing to give people the ability to personalise their vehicles, but in a way that protects the integrity. We know tuners take our cars, and quite frankly, they erode the image". So much easier for them to do it direct from the comfort of the design studio - flashy silver tat all down the doors and sides of your car? No problem. Wheel designs that look like they should be in the window of a jeweller's in Queens? No problem. |

Saw a black LHD one on trade plates on the M1 earlier. Bit awkward at the back and the Gypsy Stripe is rubbish, but overall not disastrous. Certainly seems less imposing from the front though. |
