SKY Wireless Connector for HD+ Box

Just a quick heads up, that SKY (in the UK) are currently offering a wireless box to allow your SKY + HD box to wirelessly connect to your SKY router for £9.99.

It used to be £60, and will allow you to get SKY Anytime Plus (which is their TV and film library, plus iplayer and catch-up TV) when your router is not near your SKY TV box.

The alternative is an ethernet cable..........

Hope this makes sense...........

To purchase it, you will need to log in to your account and add it as a product.

WARNING

Check your Sky HD box before you buy. The early ones (like mine Evil or Very Mad ) don't have an ethernet port, which you need to connect whether or not you go wired or wireless.

It works really well and saves having to hard wire your router to the skybox...definitely worth the £9.99 but not so sure about the original price of £69.99 Shocked

£60?!?

F'in stupid when there is a perfectly good USB port on the back of the box that they could design something to slot into or use an off the shelf device, repaint and brand it and stick the drivers in the next OTA update and jobs done. So simple for not much dev work either! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Agreed. You'd think they'd make life easy for themselves wouldn't you.

Sorry, yes, you will still need an ethernet port on your HD box.

I've ordered one, even though I'm on ethernet, just in case I need it in the future. Less than £10 its worth it to me.

Where I lived before, the router was upstairs, so when I wanted something from Anytime + I had to run a cable across the carpet and up the stairs.

I believe in the next few days, SKY are launching a SKY Hub, which is white and quite large.

I've a feeling this £9.99 offer is to get rid of the old stock of wireless boxes that are black and grey, so if you have a black/black and grey HD box and you may need wireless, I'd get one now........

I've just tried to order one, but I need to be a customer. I cancelled in May, so I asked about any special offers for old customers. I was offered 25% off for 12 months and a free box. Whilst on hold I was cut off. I rang back and spoke to a different member of staff and was told the best they could do was 10% and a subsidised box!

Here is a link to a SKY page with more info on ;

http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/wireless-connector/

So where do you fit into their system Noddy ? As you probably aren't an existing customer, or a new one ? - in their eyes........

I'd sign back up using your wifes name or something, as a new customer, and get all the introductory deals. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Called one department in Sky who told me if i re-joined for their broadband service it would cost me £69 for their new router as i am currently with 02 … Told Sky "No sorry 02's routers are cheaper" Whistle the Sky operator then gave me a number to call …

So got the £69 Sky router for free along with an HD connector and 6 months free broadband as well ….

My guess is it's who you get on the other end of the phone at the call centre Thumbs Up

You'll probably get the new SKY SR101 white hub then.

Seems very big compared to the old black and grey router, but does a scan of the wireless networks that are around your location, and sets itself to the channel with the least interference.........

It must do other things, but not much info out there on it yet.....

What's wrong with doing a quick wifi scan and setting it yourself?!? If your in a busy area the self test stuff never works right as it just sees all channels as used Wink FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
