Driving to work had a funny sound and feel in the steering wheel. Think it turned out to be a sticking passenger side caliper. After a few lit brakes at motorway speed the noise died off. I have drilled and slotted disks so that helped diagnose, plus the wheel was notably hotter than the drivers side.

Yer they say they change pistons and seals, and have a 2 year warrenty. I can't remember but how many pistons are in the front calipers? [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

It might be worth having a look to see if you could free it. A few times with various calipers I have taken the gator off the piston, used a fine wet and dry paper to polish off rust, lube with brake fluid and push it back in with a clamp. It's worth a try. If it works, get loads of copper grease around the back of the pads. Previously..

I had the notorious rear caliper failure on the S/C and changed out both. 70 Euro each (exchange) for new calipers and not a problems since. Not sure about your car, mine has the Brembo front calipers.

I've refurbed calipers before on other projects and whilst its not that hard to do (assuming the pistons are not properly seized) the cost savings are not that great usually.

If new or refurbished calipers are not expensive then I see no point in trying to fanny them up with new seals, after all your life depends on them |

When I had this problem with the driver's side rear, I replaced calipers and discs on both sides. I can't remember exactly what it cost, but Dan (Duckworths) supplied, at a very reasonable price. |

Well I won't be overhauling them myself as the saving isn't worth the hassle. Does anyone know if the double piston ones will fit the single piston system? If there a straight swap I think I will go down this route. There has to be some benefit to a single piston system. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]
