Headlight bulb replacement.

SWMBO has just come home & told me that the NS dipped headlight bulb (xenon) on our 2005 (not face lift) FFRR Vogue has blown. I've previously tried to remove the headlight units to replace sidelight bulb & failed miserably. I'm out in a cold sweat worrying about changing the headlight bulb now.

Where is best to buy one of these bulbs & are there any tips that I should know about? Rolling Eyes

Many thanks in advance.....Robert. The reason women's minds are cleaner than a mans mind is that women change their minds more often!

bulbs can be replaced without taking the headlight out..bulbs can be brought from ebay for about £18 'ish and i would replace as a pair and keep the other good one as a spare.. ..try 6000k ones which give a whiter light.. ... - .- -.

Many thanks Stan, it doesn't sound so daunting as I'd thought. Strange thing is that the light was working when I went out to check it. I'll order two bulbs up this evening & fit them asap. The reason women's minds are cleaner than a mans mind is that women change their minds more often!

And if IIRC, on the >2005 pre facelift, you can't remove the headlight without first removing the sidelight, you can't access one of the securing bolts on the outer lower side of the headlight.

Sidelights should come out easy enough on their own Rolling Eyes .

stock bulbs are 4300k which give a slight yellowy tinge, 6000k are more whiter...

there is an argument that the stock temp is a more stronger light but i didnt find that, in fact my 6000k's seemed brighter.. ... - .- -.

I prefer the higher temps like 6000 and 8000, do you have a part/model number for the bulb? Or a link to e.bay seller. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Thanks Stan, so far ive done pretty much all the piano black I can inside inc heated piano black steering wheel, MKiv DVD Nav, re connolised the seats from sand to satin black as well as the lower dash and had the 20" RR rims reconned and finished in black chrome, hopefully by next week Ill have my IID tool and Intravee 2 as ell as the stuff I need to do the front end conversion, hopefully im well enough to do this myself at the workshop from my wheelchair, but I do fancy using some 6-8000K bulbs for that diff look. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!
