Also where the leads connect to the body (negative) or the positive bulkhead lead. The negative is the most likely culprit but make sure to check both, plus all the other ground leads in that general area under the bonnet.

I have noticed as well that the clamps really need to be tightened hard after pushing them down on the poles hard. I always check that they are very tight onto the battery poles.

I suggest to remove them first, clean them, thin coat of Vaseline on them and put them back. Vaseline prevents corrosion.

Also check the connection of the cables to the clamps, I have seen one break (not on a FFRR) and only just making contact. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Anyone know why Vaseline seems to be preferable to copper slip for battery terminals?

Copper grease will eventually dry out through time, Vaseline is waterproof and a good conductor.

Vaseline also helps slip it in Laughing Laughing

That size battery is roughly what my daughter has in her Audi A6, so yes it could well be the cause of your problems

Although the battery is too small in terms of capacity for your car and should be changed for the correct one, going back to your original post I doubt the existing battery is causing all your problems, after all you say that disconnecting and reconnecting brought the car back to life and allowed you to start it.
I might be wrong but I still think you have a bad connection somewhere.
Just one point, have you checked the condition of and the connections on the engine earth strap on your car.
I don't know where it's located on your engine but it will have one and it's condition is as important are the battery connections.

The size of the battery still does not explain the working one minute and not the next unfortunately. I do agree it is way too small, I have a 110 Ah in my S/C.

If the problem is gone, then still change the battery to the bigger size would be my recommendation, our cars draw a lot of power from the battery.

If the problem is not gone, suggest to look at the alternator.

Did you look at the grounding points on the body of the car and the main lead connections on the bulkhead/body ? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

yeah i checked the earth point in the bulkhead and made sure it was nice and tight with no signs of corrosion will wait and see if happens again then if it does will change the battery out then if it still happens auto electrician may need to be called.

The strange thing is when it happens there is no power to anything no interior lights or anything ? Supercharged LPG!!

Bad connection at power source

I agree with every one else you need check all main battery terminals and bulk head charging point

Why it dies is because your trying to pull to much power through a bad connection
And it drops the voltage in the car
so when all the ECU's startup they shut down due to low voltage
Even the interior lights are controlled by an ecu

Last thing your battery is defo to small it should be

110 ah
900 cold crank CCA

So change that ASAP RANGE ROVER 04 TD6

Another not very likely scenario is a break in one of the battery poles although that should be aggravated by driving on bumpy surfaces.

It happened to me once on the first ride on a 1965 BMW motorbike after refurbishing it. I had the 6 Volt battery "newly" installed but halfway during the test ride all power went. Then I found the negative pole had broken of at the top surface of the battery. Using the battery cover, a bit of paper and my scarf I was able to clamp it down enough to get home Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
