I do 26-27mpg in mine. 30 is possible with a light food but not as much fun.

I made the same move 18 months ago - although my 2010MY TDV8 Vogue SE cost a lot more than £30k

I get 27mpg on mine although I do a fair bit of motorway cruising. My 2008 3.6 cost £25k 4 months ago with 60k miles on the clock so £30k should be getting you a really nice one. Lloyd Barnes

Get your 3.6 remapped by JE Engineering for 800NM of torque if you want it to feel like a 4.4 TDV8 Also improves economy by 5-10% in my experience. MY23 D350 HSE

The only issues I've had with mine over the last 53,000 miles is a packed up alternator, power steering pipe leak and a new battery.

It does have bluetooth but often drops the bluetooth connection after start. The reason for this is the phone is connected once the ignition is turned on, then when you start the engine, the whole of the audio software is automatically restarted and the bluetooth connection is often lost. As said above, you can then reconnect using the phone each time or I found the best way was to select the Venture Cam and then deslect it, which then automatically re-connects the phone. It only takes a couple of button presses and is a lot safer/legal than messing with your phone while driving. As for the re-map - worth every penny of the few hundre quid they charge and makes the 3.6 TDV8 a much better drive. Having just bought a 4.4 TDV8 there is little difference in speed between the two but the 4.4 has less torque (700NM). However, the 8-speed gearbox on the 4.4 compensates for this, so there is little difference between the two on the road. MY23 D350 HSE On my 7th RR plus various other JLR vehicles |

07 plate tdv8 3.6 Vogue with now 67,000 miles on it. Only issues, Air Suspension fault message which was lint in the breather of the compressor. Seized brake caliper, not the car's fault, due to not bothering to wash mud out of wheels. And Rear Diff failure, not common on these, just one of those things, otherwise totally faultless. So Far!?!? |

EGR valves seem to be becoming more common items for failing, as well as alternator failure

How workable / fixable is the engine in the bay? For example, I consider a turbo to be an item which will need replaced as time goes on ( about the 100k mark ). I've read that the TDV8 on the sport needs the whole body to be lifted off to replace the turbo ... is that the case on the L322 version ? V8 or else ... |

Correct, on a sport the body has to come off. It's not a big job though, can have it off in under a few hours when you get the hang of it
