Waffle boards

With every used waffle board set I can find being a million miles away I'm looking at new tracmats and wondering if I could get away with the 38mm thickness or if being a fatty the FFRR needs the 50mm ones as I'm looking at getting the 1.4m to help with the fat front over hang Smile

I've seen done metal ones but decided against them due to weight and not bending back to their original shape on their own and just handling them would be a ballache i imagine when wet or cold! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Tracmat say that the 38mm will take 2500 kg, while the 50mm will take 3000 kg. So you should be OK with the 38mm version but I went for belt & braces and got the 50mm a few years ago. Wink

Up in Warrington Fox Sad

Though I'll be in Doncaster and then Kidderminster on Saturday Smile

A likely weight difference of 1kg all in them lol!

Do the tyres slip on them easily or are the surfaces roughed/sand impregnated so as to help as I'll be combining them with the MT/R's so they have wide fat slabs of rubber on them Smile

If each one can handle 2.5tonne then that should be great as they wont get that unless the thing bounces on them which i doubt i will be on my first proper big off road run! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I'll have to check when I get home as I've not had either of my 90s for a few years now and I've still got an amount of offroading kit laying around...

Some I had were smooth, some had grit bonded to one side for better traction.
The latter do give more grip, but also chew the tyres a bit of you get too much wheel slip.

Cheers Fox Smile

So far the best price i can get is circa £50 for the 1.4m 38mm ones that are about 300mm wide or a smidging more which is more than enough for the 255's Rover wears Smile

Let us know what other bits you have as i may have some more as im still trying to get the front sump guard bought for her and fitted before we go there!! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

My stuff is all offroading gear in general.
So shackles, tow strops, winch sail, tow ropes, folding shovel, waffle boards, folding ground anchor, ViAir Compressor etc...

I've been falling over the stuff for years!

I've got a 6hp Warn winch motor off a 9.5XP I've had for three years too. It's still in the box!

When I got my GT-R I moved from offroading to track days and just forgot to put it all on ebay...

Hmm a winch you say, what else would one need other than fairlead rollers to get that to fit into the L322 cradle? im guessing a drum?

I've got some shackles (took me ages to find a perfect one to mount round the tow hitch!) but ideally looking for a slot in type one like ive seen on some yank sites?? and a compressor?? how big are we talking??

If you get a chance scoot up a list in the forsale section and i'll cross post it on defender 2, fl2, rrs and d3/4 for you Smile

Going to have to go and count some pennies and crack some piggy banks me thinks!! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

It's just the motor.
Some people upgrade the 4.6hp Warn winches to the 6hp XP type, which is what this motor is.

Compressor is a ViAir thing that is quite powerfull and clips onto the battery.
It's about 20cm x 40cm x 30cm tall and has a big coiled pressure hose so you can reach all the tyres.
I took it around Morocco on a Land Rover thing and was very impressed with it.

I'll try and do you a list tonight.

I've run out of time tonight, it's dark and blowing a gale out there!

But a quick look revealed three waffles of the 38mm variety and a 50mm with grit on one side.
Will do a proper inventory tomorrow, sorry for the delay.
