I think the larger approach angle is to allow you to back out if you find the rear is going to scrape, thus ensuring you don't rip both the front and rear bumper off? 07 Supercharged - Still breaking her in! The departure angle has always been the Range Rovers achilles heel thats why folks shorten the rear on Classics and they will probably do the same on P38's and L322's when they are more affordable for serious off-roading

Not worked this out exactly, but you can approach a 30 degree slope with the front, and OK, if its perfectly "flat" and consistent, you will have an issue when the rear comes up, due to the lesser departure angle,.......
