Now this info is incomplete, and may be completely wrong as the info is taken from the Rover 75 (uses similar system found in all BMW’s (inc our RR)) But I just though Transit Mode lock the suspension or something, it seems to do a lot more:

I believe that's what that ghost switch (that no one knows what's for) over the pedals does. |

Possibly what VMPP says? Can't see any other reason whay that's there. Never noticed it myself - does it mean I'm crap at cleaning my car? |

The switch is to energise the ignition before the vehicle has it's PDI (pre delivery inspection). IIRC it's from 07my, and you need to press it to alloy you to start the vehicle to move it before it has had it's checks (onto the transported, off into the dealers compound etc).

And yes, the OBD port moved from the very handy coin tray/wallet hidey hole that I no longer have to somewhere near the pedals. Discovery 4 HSE
