MY2012 or wait for MY2013 ?

The closeout sales have begun where you can get 25 to 30% discount on the MY2012 RR with all options present. Would you snap one up at the discount or wait for the MY2013 ?

What would you do and why ?

No option for neither / stick with what you have / wait three years and get the MY2013 then.... .

To be honest, I think I'd do neither.

Whilst it is nice to be driving around in a new model and the depreciation in the first few months is negligible, you are taking a gamble, the first few cars of any model are essentially customer test vehicles. It is better to buy a car a couple of years into its production when the bugs have been ironed out.

The MY12 will drop like a stone.

I think I'd stick with what I have and wait to buy an L405 later when discounts are available.

If Landrover run true to form the final product testing will be completed by the first customers like Mong said.
So wait a couple of years until the first facelift where they will try and discreetly iron out the problems that have surfaced same as they had to with everything else they manufactured.

New one would be nice but the depreciation Whistle Whistle mine lost nearly £50k in 5 years! Mine was a blue one! Smile

exactly as everyone says, but if money isn't an issue then go for one now, you'll get the best built L322 version available and have the fun of driving a new car for at least 12 months before the L405 is on the road Laughing

There's no hiding from depreciation, after all it's a luxury car so best to get over that now & just come to terms with it. If you really can't handle loosing somewhere between 10 to 20K in the first year, better not buy anything of this value new, let alone a rangie Whistle

Come October I'll try and sell mine, should be a good time before winter...and then I'll decide what to do, L322-4.4 or L405. Regarding the L405, I'm sure there are going to be lots available next year in Europe. Bought mine in Switzerland in January 2010 and one year later Land Rover Switzerland decided to reduce the list price by sfr 6'000 plus giving an additional bonus of sfr 18'000 to dealers that they passed it on to customers. Due to the high Swiss franc lots of people buy there car in the Euro zone now. So basically I got Censored by approximately sfr25'000 by the Land Rover importer for the incentive Wink

With Land Rover's history I'd never buy anew model as it's released.

Let the first customers be the test pilots and have all the grief if things go wrong.

I'll look at getting one around six monrhs to a year after launch, without so much chance of having the vehicle ownership experience completely wrecked by numerous trips to the dealer.

Neither. Don't like the L405 and probably won't buy another LR after the current one goes. Still don't know what I'll buy instead though.

No need to worry about most of the techy bits - the new electronics except the auto Tr, have been bench tested in the Evoque for the last 12 months...................... the engines are nothing new having come from the existing car and the D4/RRS (SVd6). My Evoque was one of the earliest customer cars - not a thing has failed on it, nothing has worn out/ fallen off and it has had only one minor unscheduled visit to the dealership in 12 months for a noisy door seal rubber. One thing that anybody going for the new car should be aware of is the panoramic roof option - check your insurnace policy - in the last 6 months most insurers have removed sunroofs and panoramic (costs £2000 to replace an Evoque glass roof!) roofs from the glass section of their policies and made them part of the body cover so you can loose your NCB if you crack or damage the sunroof. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes
