Have checked thru the search field before asking , just recently the heater in my FFRR ( friggin freezin range rover ) seems to take at least a 40 min drive to get some heat to come thru the front vents , Yet in the back within 5/10 mins the back air vents are warm and toasty ......

I was thinking at first thermostat problem's until i found out the back vents were blowing hot  ====================================

My fronts have a mind of thier own,

sometimes they blow air sometimes they don't.

Prob something I'm not doing right tho!

Other than that it heats up fast enough so perhaps your front thermostat is knackered TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

It should heat up quick Mick,

It obviously works as the rear is hot, so something to do with the relay/splitter.?? Someone with more technical brains will know Discovery 4 HSE

Do you get the same problem when set to vents, rather than on Auto? When it's less than 7 degrees or something if on auto it will only ever send air to the screen to prevent fogging.

Occasionally I might have cold feet so will redirect it, but if it has an auto button I like to leave it on auto, i'm anal like that lol.

I found the HEVAC in the P38 used much better logic (as well as far superior dual blowers) 

yes, I am the same as Mick, I never use the Auto function.

I want the air where I want it, not where some idiotic ECU directs it. I personally like warm air on my feet and on the windscreen, but don't want it blown in my face - dries up your eyes and throat, and makes you feel as though you have smoked 50 fags!

That is the default heat setting. Screen and feet, but when the engine is cold it will stay at the screen to save freezing your feet - So it's already trying to do what you're forcing it to do?

From reading up, the vents are only used when its cooling when one would prefer cool air at face level. 

Dan you've cleared a couple of things up there for me.

Explains why it only blows cold air and not warm at my face!

Also explains why the vents only worked at the weekend when the temp was above 7! TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

Dan, if mine is set to Auto on a warm temperature and the face vents are open, then I get warm air coming out of them, hence I don't use auto and just direct warm air to the screen and my feet. Maybe they changed the spec on later vehicles - mine also has temp controls on the vents

Completely different then, they have extra face vents too so a completely different heater body is used and probably a different ECU logic. Does it still have the stupid thumbwheel that negates what the ATC is trying to do? 

If you mean the BMW derived temperature selector in the face level vents, yes the 07MY onwards still have that, I love that feature personally.

Not convinced the new dash top face vents do much though and their arc of adjustment is so small, what's the point? Discovery 4 HSE
