TD6 Service / now wont start

Did a service on my TD6. Oil, Fuel, Air, filters & pollen filter. Flattened battery trying to start it. Recharged battery. Every thing worked O'k before service ???
There would appear to be no fuel in new fuel filter. I can hear fuel pump underside of car running. Fuel tank was a bit down so put more fuel in, now over 1/2 full. No difference. Line off fuel filter & can hear it gurgling but still no fuel. Tried to suck fuel through with air compressor. Still no go. Fuel pump runs for about 20 seconds then shuts off. Turn Ignition off & on again same thing.

Also reset service indicator reads 22,000 kms. Is that normal ??

And have Temp in F on dash & C in touch screen ???

Cleared all faults with IIDTool Not that there were any that would cause any of these problems.

HELP

Gary

Dear Gary,

don´t worry, be happy....

I had the same problems after my self-service, it is definitly the air in the diesel-filter,, charge battery to 100%, and start and start, it will start after some tries.

The 22.000km is normal, also the temperature, but you can change it, read in your owners-manual. Perhaps, and that is never a mistake, buy a new battery! Here in germany the batteries are not expensive (so 100 Euros), so I buy each three years a new one, the old one comes in the ebay auction, brings so 50 Euros...

Please report about your solution, because reporting is the best help.

Thanks Meerbusch. But have flattened battery twice now. Doesn't seem to want to prime properly for some reason. Will have another go tomorrow.

Maybe there is a blockage in the new filter? Try putting the old filter back on.

Always fill the replacement filter with clean diesel before fitting and attempting to start! Otherwise you put a huge strain on not only your battery but your starter motor and the rest of the electrical systems...

I've never had to do that with a diesel before Craig, and with the FF both times its been fine.

Just turn to run position and leave it 30 seconds, Off then On again. Repeat about 5 times and the system should be purged.

Fill the filter to the brim with fresh diesel before trying to start

if you can take the feed to the filter off and no diesel comes out when you turn the ignition on then it wont make a difference if he fills the filter or not, the system needs to register low pressure at the filter head to start. just because the low pressure pumps are running doesnt mean they are pumping, start by removing the feed to the low pressure pump infront of the rear wheel and turning the ignition on to see if diesel flows. if it does the problem is with the secondary pump, if it doesnt the problem is the intank pump. time to get dirty, Thumbs Up

All go now. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Reverse filled inline pump. Refilled fuel filter & IP. Cycled ignition a few times, pump sounded different as if it was working this time . Fired into life first go. . Smile Smile

Still got F & C issues. Changes on touch screen but not dash. Both have same numerical value just F & C chance . Didn't disconect battery for service as was only changing filters Embarassed
