We might as well cycle everywhere at this rate!

Just seen government proposing 40 mph on country roads - where I live we already have new 50mph signs just about everywhere Rolling Eyes

At this rate I might as well get a push bike Evil or Very Mad

And plenty more speeding fine opportunities too!

It is unfortunate that drivers today do not match their speed to road/driving conditions which means that gov have to step in and nanny us. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Are you kidding? More like it's a shame the government persist in seeing motorists as a cash cow, and using speeding fines as a way to relieve us of cash! Censored

Censored all to do with road safety. They turned off all the speed cameras for a while in Oxfordshire where I left, then I believe the turned them on pretty quick under pressure from central government, before anybody could realise that traffic casualties had fallen since the cameras were switched off! Exclamation Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

I stick to the speed limit however stupid I think it is hence my clean licence Thumbs Up

However I am constantly put at risk by idiots overtaking me - usually in the new 20, 40 and 50 limits because they are frustrated by them Rolling Eyes

I bought my son a Lr bike - I have spent more on repairs than I paid for it - at least anything Lr is consistent Whistle Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

United Kingdom 2002 Range Rover HSE Td6 Oslo Blue

The editor of that just picked this as a top comment even though it's currently -6 voted down

Quote:
A brilliant move and 40 yrs overdue.
Just been tailgated at 40mph in pouring rain down a winding narrow country lane for 5 miles by what passes for an intellecutal around here in rural kent - a RangeRover driver.
It won't stop people like him, but might just put the law on the right side of sensible for a change.

I can just imagine what sort of person wrote that comment, really gets on my nerves Censored

Fav comment so far

This legislation will ruin my livelihood.
I rely on being able to drive at speed through country lanes and backstreets to earn a living.

Who is going to employ a getaway driver limited to 40mph???
