Push bike help

I've just signed up to the bike to work scheme. Bit of a rush as the closing date for selection was last night. I've selected a £750 LOC. I want a hard tale as a FS at that price would be crap. I had a quick look and think the Trek 6000 or the Cube Acid look the best for that price but if anyone has any better ideas I'm open to ideas. Never heard about Cube are they any good? [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Cube tend to be good value well built bikes. I have a Trek Remedy FS that's been up Snowdon and Ben Nevis as well as most Scottish black runs, and it's been absolutely faultless.

Try the reviews on Bikeradar for some more info?

My last bike was a Trek and it was, as above, totally faultless. Si. <This is my name.

I'd go for the Cube, although this year's Cannondales are great. I've enrolled a few guys at work here on the bike to work scheme and they've mostly gone for the Trail SLs. I'd be looking for Shimano gearsets rather than SRAM - I can't get on with their system of two levers going the same way for changing up and down. Shimano's system feels much more intuitive - thumb to shift one way, index finger for the other. That's just personal preference, though. There's no substitute for getting yourself down to a bike shop and trying out some stuff - some bikes just 'fit', others don't. GTs fit me well, as do Cannondales. Konas are a bike I've never been able to get on with. 2003 Vogue TD6/1992 Classic 300TDi/2x 1991 Golf GTI/1966 Volkswagen Kombi/2x 1968 Volkswagen Kombi/Probably something I've forgotten...

I've had Scotts before and it only lasted about 3-4years of heavy use.

I have a GT Avalanche now and its superb i have to say Smile

Like you i prefer hard tail, and went for non hydro brakes as much easier to look after in the long run i think Smile

Still on original pads and discs nearly 2 years down the line though they are due soon, as well as a rear tyre as they just seem to take a lot of abuse.

I use mine offroad and riding to work so it gets the up and down stairs action at some stations and has seen me thru london once as well. I'd reccomend getting one with remote lock out as thats my only bug bear at the minute when switching from one surface to another, and never rely on the supplied seat being much cop Smile

And agree as well regarding sram vs shimano Smile much easier to select when caning down a hill covered in mud and needing the right cog for the next turn or uphill burst Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I have had my Trek hybrid for 5 years now and it's great, never had a problem with it. I would however buy the Cube, they are a very good bike. I did the cycle for work scheme and went for a Voodoo Wanga; the quality of build and components are good. Current MY2020

I've got a Trek 6700 and it's been fantastic. But really depends on wart you will use it for...... I also have a Bianchi Cameleonte II that I bought through said scheme and its far superior on the road

I really want it for taking my son out. Ive just got a weeride (http://www.weerideuk.co.uk/ brilliant if you have small kids), and ive put it on my old bike but the gears are slipping and being a pain in the arse, but while ive been out on it really enjoyed it and would like to get back into riding. I had a full suspension before but never got used, so sold it. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

If its for a mix of less bumpy stuff and taking the kids out have you considered the Specialzed Crosstrail Comp? Its a hybrid but more MTB biased instead of the usual city bias.
