Blackvue Installation

I finally got round to ordering a Blackvue camera at the weekend - it arrived today.

It looks very neat - I havent done much with it yet, but did start my install Smile

I wanted it as neat as possible, but didn't want to take the car to pieces, so I think I managed a pretty good compromise that took about half an hour so far.

I decided to put it as tight in as possible on the passenger side - the down side of it being this tight is that it needs to be removed from the holder to get the SD card out - but mounting on the drivers side would leave more cable exposed.....

I fed the cable up from the glove box - I pilled out the bit of trim by the passengers feet and took out the vent, then fed a fibreglass rod through

The rod was too firm for the next bit, so I used a net curtain cord (that would pobably have been better for the last part too

I then taped the power lead to the rod then cord and pulled it through.

Finally I just tucked it into the headlining & ran it down next to the windscreen, pulled the spare cable through & then popped the vent back in.

I've not wired it in yet - the cable just goes straight through the glove box and into the cig lighter, but the next job is to get a Piggyback fuse and wire it into the fuse box in the glovebox

Thanks for the link to those piggyback fuse holders, that'll come in handy for a few things. Thumbs Up

I've got a Suction Mount for a normal camcorder that I used on the Belgium National for a couple of years.
It's not the smallest thing to have stuck to the screen but it works and gives a nice stable image when off road. It also allows you to use it in different vehicles. Wink

You can buy additional holders & leads.....

I've actually just ordered a second one off eBay - direct from Korea for about half what I paid on Amazon.
