Advice please on wheel change

Hi Guys

I currently have 265 60/r18 110h tyres on my car. The car is on the 56 plate and I was wondering what 19 or 20 inch wheel/tyre combo could be used to replace these ones. I look forward to any replies.

Cheers

Elena

You should have 255/60/18 as standard
If you wish to upgrade keeping standard sizes then you want

255/55/19
255/50/20

Hi thanks for the speedy response, would you go for the 19, 20 or stick with the 18 inch. Any ideas why I would have 265 tyres on my car and not the standard 255?

Cheers

i had those on mine elena, i think LR brought a cheap batch of them during 2005/2006 ...

because yours is a td6 you will find that when stationary and in drive the car will vibrate a bit if you on 20'', nothing serious but annoying and you'll get in the habit of clicking into neutral when at traffic lights...
i'm on 20'' but if i had the chance ,i'd stick 19'' on which stills gives a comfortable ride and look good ... - .- -.

Hi Stan thanks for the advice, watching some 19 inch ones on eBay. Does the spare have to be the same size wheel etc.

Cheers

19s are a good upgrade for the TD6 without making for too harsh a ride, also a bit less tyrewall reduces the cornering roll effect

Steer clear of 20s though

Hi, thanks for your advice just bought a set of 19 inch wheels with tyres. Do I need to have the suspension settings set to anything other than normal before changing the wheels please, may be a silly question but thought I should ask it, cheers.

Hi Elena
I am sure there are issues with what type of wheel nuts are required depending on the age of vehicle and wheels but I am sure someone who knows will supply the correct information soon ( or do a search)
ditto for jacking up. Mine was a blue one! Smile

Don't know the reason for the vibration with 20s on the TD6, but LR do not recommend fitting them.

@enumbers, its the change in inertia and stiffness of the wheels allows a torsional resonance through the driveline from the engine firing pulses... ... - .- -.
