If you do one that isn't going to cost me 3ish tanks of fuel and 9 hour round trip to get there I'd be all over it! Whistle

OK so we are nearly there. The brave are dropping out like flies but we're still going.

If you have them bringing tools for pruning will be a good idea as everything is growing at a real pace, a spade as it will probably be muddy (no spade = guaranteed stuck), packed lunch and plenty of fuel as we aren't going on any motorways!

We will be meeting at Stonehenge on the byway. Map 184 SU118 421. Safer to access westbound from the A344 and eastbound from A303.

We will meet with the aim to leave at 09:00 ish. Call mobile number 0 77 25 44 76 76 if you're running late. I will also have a CB tuned to channel 40.

Brilliant Day!! (Despite the weather!)

Here's my report on the day - my first ever off road day in my FFRR!

Got to admit on Friday night, after the whole day chucking it down (and no sign of it stopping Censored ), I was starting to have second thoughts on the day out, really didn't want to be stuck in the middle of Salisbury Plain in a flood......

Saturday morning was much the same but what the heck, go for it. Met up with Nick and two other Land Rovers at Stonehenge making us a group of 4 - 2 x FFRR's, a Disco 4 and a Freelander! We then head off down a byeway and off into Salisbury Plain to begin the day.

We went over varying terrains (and it was still raining so most of the routes were full of water) but Nick took us over all sorts of different routes, some muddy tracks, grassy fields, some ballast byeways with craters full of water which were great fun. Loads of chalky parts including a good hill to get up and down (using HDC - amazing bit of kit!) and some routes that looked like rivers, which was great fun wading through with the bow wave ahead! Some muddy parts were difficult with the car sliding and crabbing but was challenging and I feel that I have learnt a lot and got some great advice.

All in all it was excellent fun, it was pretty much a non scratchy route but we stopped and trimmed some rough areas to avoid scratching the cars but you are still driving through long grass etc which is unavoidable but doesn't do any damage - so don't worry, you CAN off road our beloved FF's without damaging them!
I spent a few hours yesterday cleaning my car and can report no scratches Thumbs Up

I just want to say a big Thank You to Nick - a most excellent organiser and guide, not to mention your invaluable experience in all things off road which made a new comer enthusiast like me feel so welcome and in safe hands. And also a note of thanks to all the others, was a pleasure to off road with you!

I'm looking forward to the next one as I will definately be back so hopefully a few more FFRR owners on here might think about coming along next time..........go for it Mr. Green FFRR Vogue 2003 4.4V8 - Epsom Green & Ivory

Peter,

thanks for your feedback on the day out. It was a shame we had almost continuous rain, my boots still are not dry, which stopped us spending a bit more time out of the vehicle on the social side of things.

Glad to have been able to make your day enjoyable and educational. You certainly now know what the FFR can do and I can assure you that we only skimmed the surface!

Great to meet up and if those who missed out are encouraged by your feedback maybe we can do it again later in the year?
