kicking the tires... custom side exhaust on L322 V8

Hi All

Anyone thought about fitting an exhaust like the below?:

Just curious if it has ever been done, or could be done?

I realize it would kill the clearance, but if if you weren't into off-roading, it wouldn't be an issue. FFRR 2003 Vogue V8

Sure, i suppose it could be done. I had thought about if you could cut the end of the stainless steel side bars so that the exhaust poked out the reared of them ... The pipe wouldn't run thelength of the side bar, just at the end.

But I think more about trying to fit exhaust diverterss for sound at the tap of a button. V8 or else ...

You could use it to thaw your feet out on snowing mornings!

Seriously though, i think it would look cool, better than those pointless side steps.
Also, you would get to hear that V8 better from your window Smile FFRR 2003 Vogue V8

Yeah, those bars, but just have the pipe join at the rear.

But I think I'd rather that've the diverters. Just before the rear box and have the exits point down t bounce off the ground ... Then have a switch that I ca. Chose the opening and/or have it open when the kick down button is pushed by the pedal.

Full throttle equals full noise! V8 or else ...

Shocked

I love Cobras + I love a V8 rumble + I love the RR ≠ more love

Similar to

I love good creme brulee + I love a dash of Worcestershire sauce ≠ more love

I have a little experience with those sidepipes Laughing (the link in question is to a guy named Gary who is an artisan in stainless, but sadly now out of business... sold his wares too cheap IMHO).

Some issues with sidepipes, you actually lose the classic V8 rumble unless you can crosslink the pipes (admittedly far easier on a Range). Sidepipes seperate out each bank of 4 cylinders. Cobras sound nothing like classic American cars at either idle or full chat.

They also got VERY hot, so much so that if you were running a cat on the engine, they would be downright dangerous. Finally an exhaust exiting nr each ear is no joke... can you say tinitus!! Laughing Ok in the Cob, but only with earplugs. Lloyd Barnes
