wire loop in cubby?

In the O/S rear cubby in the boot, there is a small loop of wire sticking into the front side of the compartment, behind where the warning triangle fits.

Looks like its a release for something, its not the fuel filler flap. Looks like its supposed to be pulled, so i did, there is some resistance and its doing something but havent a clue what.

anyone got any ideas what its for, or what i have just detached/may drop off from the car? Shocked

Im sure it will be in the handbook, but without reading it cover to cover i dont know what to look up. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It primes the self destruct device.
Just don't touch the brakes.

Is that not the fuel filler flap emergency release (FFFLAPER)?

Seat release?

No, not fuel flap release. Thats a different pull wire in the same cubby. Sad There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It's the Emergency - Parking Brake Release

From the Manual, under "Emergency Starting"

If the electric parking brake will not release,
because of a system fault or flat battery for
example, operate the emergency release cable
to disengage the brake, as follows:
1. Make sure that suitable chocks are in
position to stop the vehicle from moving.
2. On the right hand side of the loadspace
area, remove the access hatch.
3. Locate the pull ring of the emergency
release cable.
4. Thread a suitable bar or screwdriver
through the pull ring, then pull to release
the electric parking brake.

I have this wonderful mental picture of the OP pulling it to see what it does, then chasing the car for miles down the road in an attempt to throw himself in the boot and climb into the front and hit the brakes before the big oak tree looms up...
