Thanks daveo but that was a BMW 540 so thought a little over priced as could get the whole car for less . Can anyone tell me for certain if a 540 BMW engine is a straight swap if I change the sump , or is it far more involved ? Has anyone done this swap as I still cant find a lump . I also cant find out what the secondary air valve fault is !! |

Pat not 100% sure as I don't have the secondary air valve. Have you located it yet? If not its the pipe running at the front of the engine connecting both banks, it has a bolt holding it to the water pump. There is a NRV to the left hand side. The system also has an air pump under the air filter. It is used to create a 2ndry burn in the exhaust manifold for unburnt fuel for emissions. The BMW will work though most of the ancillaries and the sump will need to be swapped. There is a thread on this somewhere - either here or at RR.net.

I'd keep as much as possible from your original engine, and only use whats broken on the original from the BMW unit.
