2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Epsom Green
First unhappy post

Hi all this is my first post so will try and keep it short . I have 2002 Vogue 4.4 petrol with L.P.G. and I keep getting a fault code saying Faulty Secondary Air Valve and nobody can tell me what this is can anybody on here help please ? My second problem is somewhat bigger , while doing about 80ish sorry 70mph on the M25 in L.P.G. it developed a bad misfire. I had it towed home and it now has zero compression on three pots even putting oil down the bores !!! Can anyone tell me how much I may have to pay for a second hand or new lump and point me in the right direction to get one please . Thanks PAT Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Thanks daveo but that was a BMW 540 so thought a little over priced as could get the whole car for less . Can anyone tell me for certain if a 540 BMW engine is a straight swap if I change the sump , or is it far more involved ? Has anyone done this swap as I still cant find a lump . I also cant find out what the secondary air valve fault is !!

Pat not 100% sure as I don't have the secondary air valve. Have you located it yet? If not its the pipe running at the front of the engine connecting both banks, it has a bolt holding it to the water pump. There is a NRV to the left hand side. The system also has an air pump under the air filter. It is used to create a 2ndry burn in the exhaust manifold for unburnt fuel for emissions. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

The BMW will work though most of the ancillaries and the sump will need to be swapped. There is a thread on this somewhere - either here or at RR.net.

I'd keep as much as possible from your original engine, and only use whats broken on the original from the BMW unit.

Just my 2p.

I have no experience of the swap, but to be on the safe side.........

I know there are baffles in the sump, and extra oil pumps and stuff...........

extra oil pumps?
no. Just 1, down in the sump. The P38 oil pump is mounted on the engine front cover.
The sump is deeper to allow a larger total volume of oil, and the pickup is positioned so that it won't suck air when the vehicle is at an angle only a Range Rover can achieve.
Also, the front right-hand driveshaft passes through the sump. Jim
