hi i have tried replacing the compressor in my 2005 rr and it still lifts very slowly and says suspension fault once lifted ,the car is a facelift model ,i think were the pipe comes out of the compressor into a valve block inside the black box in the boot is faulty anyone else had this,aslo is it easy to remove the door card as i am going to replace the switch panel for the window

first of all oi had the same suspension fault slow rise i had to have a new compressor and also as far as i know the pipes cleaned connecting the suspension units on each wheel the dealer that was what the problem was. my car shoots up and down

secondly i have removed my door card more than once so here goes from scratch

1 3 screws (hex drive )
a, at the front of the door close to the pocket at the bottom
b, in the centre of the inner handle (opening)
c, at the opening end of the door level with the document pocket

2 remove the air bag badge (top right) and you will find a ten mil bolt (narrow socket needed)

3 remove the locking nob at the top of the door opening end (dry hands needed)

4 pull door from bottom 2 way clips may fall off can be put back into place work way up the outer edge of the door (you must be firm but not rough) once all clips free lift card from the lock bar and move towards you

5. caution have a box , chair to put it on while you work as the wires for all electric will still be attached also look out for the door handle conection in the centre and how it goes back together as it may well detach under movement also the centre clip for the door some times comes away (it just slides off and on)

6 put back in reverse order

how do you know its the pump ?

could it be the ecu or the other related electrical components causing the fault ?

could the suspension need calibrating for height and so on ? this can only be done by dealer

also i believe that some later compressors require a later ecu as the pressure switch blows sumthing in the ecu then need calibrating after replacement


other than obvious faults you can see the air susp system is best left to the dealer to diagnose  onto no6 Range Rover

i agree that if nothing else EAS should be left to the dealers as there are so many varables and faults to think about

did you manage to do the door card , i have to replace my speaker in the drivers door and will have to take the card off to replace. i will take photos if you want let me know  02 Range Rover HSE Zambezie silver 4.4

thanks for the help do i need to worry about the air bag in the door when removing the door card

well just spent all night replacing my caravan tow socket and passanger window switch panel (as it had pealed)
not a bad job to do maybe a bit footery but ok thanks for your help

the air bag is bolted to the door metal and what your doing will not require its removal however i had no ignition key in and was mind full but i had no worries and i took mine off  02 Range Rover HSE Zambezie silver 4.4

Hey, +1 on the dealer diagnostics... That said if it's got a new compressor and it's still raising slowly check all the pipework, particularly return pipes/collector pipes.

Also did you check the filter as in Mick's post?

I hope you find what is up, The dealer found a pipe loose on mine and that was causing it to raise really slowly and then report 'suspension fault, normal height only'

bearing in mind that these things weigh more than your average tank, it needs a s tload of pressure to lift.

well this started to bug me again so i got it checked over today ,the computer still says brush core temp to high (199)
motor temp sensor ov
the guy thinks the ecu is damaged as there is no power going to the sensor anyone heard of this fault
the compressor still runs etc but is showing this fault
the guy says if there is any faults it puts the temp to 199 to protect itself -is this true
