I was considering buying a 2011 Vogue - LRCS cured me!

I have worked my way through LR's over the last 12 years and my RRS has been the only vehicle I have not enjoyed Evil or Very Mad

I am considering leaving the brand - I even bought a mini last month to replace my daily freelander and BMW/Mini customer service has been reminiscent of the service I used to get from LR some years ago Confused

However I have a TDV8 Vogue on loan following my dealer dropping my sport off a ramp during its service last week Shocked

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic27230.html

I am considering an 11 plate 4.4 TDV8 Vogue as a replacement and would appreciate current owners thoughts and any issues I should be aware of Thumbs Up

I have had the Vogue since Friday and averaged 30 mpg over 3 days/170 miles using paddle/cruise - this beats the 27mpg I get in the RRS and although it rolls a bit compared to the RRs it is a smoother ride Shocked Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

The best RR I have owned.

Just back from towing the van down to London and back and it is a truly awesome towcar, sits at 68 mph with auto cruise on and just glides along.

Came from Walton on Thames via Southport to North of Carlisle before having to fill up, would probably have filled the last petrol one twice in that distance.

I noticed on another forum you said that you could not tow above 60 with the RRS, I have had my outfit up to 90, did not realise until I looked at the speedo, when passing and it is rock solid.

Went to look at the 11 plate yesterday and it has been a smokers car so I could not sit in it without choking, did not have a test drive and it is out of the equation Rolling Eyes

Now waiting for dealer to suggest way forward Confused

The loaner now showing 30 mpg but still better than the sport Thumbs Up

I get about 22 towing van - what do you reckon full fat average likely to be Bow down

Dealer is offering to repair vehicle and look at a goodwill gesture such as a warranty. I could let them do work or pass the matter to my insurer (Privilege) who would have independent inspection and repair done then recover all costs from Dealer Confused

Dealer is willing to look at a deal on vehicle swap after repair but no figures mentioned at this stage so a bit in the dark Rolling Eyes

Interested to know what fellow members would do in my position Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Problem is if you put it through your insurance it will affect your no claims even though not your fault in anyway.
You had a proper meeting with the dealer principal yet? Not the salesman or workshop manager. Explain to him either face to face or if he will not talk in writing exactly what you expect by way of repair and compensation. Copies of letters and notes on any meetings or phone calls kept and I find the mention of Trading Standards or Solicitors can help (although not sure trading standards are useful in this case)

I did and got a full refund on a Freelander for my Local main dealer.

Also mines a TD6 not V8 but I get around 21 towing a twin axle caravan Mine was a blue one! Smile

Liability is not really at issue here as it was in the dealers care when the accident happened. Its not a Trading Standards issue either. If you cant reach an agreement its a civil dispute between two parties.

It depends how bad the damage is. If its minor then it might be easier to accept repair / exchange / free warranty / brown paper bag. If its serious ie close to write-off then your case is stronger. Only an independent inspection will establish this which, as part of your negotiations, would be reasonable for the dealer to pay for.

Not a good idea to make threats, Solicitors etc as thats an escalation and they will most probably revert to their default position of offering a repair and they wont budge. The reality is you wont take them to court and they know it. You'd need £20k lodged with a Barrister and no certain case to answer. That could get expensive.

You have the moral high ground here and the dealer will see that and be reasonable.

Good luck.

Muddy unfortunately any claim may affect your premium next time around protected no claims or not. Still being penalised for guy hitting my car two years ago and i made no claim on my insurance just his but insurance company says its on the database.

Burls I made the point it's not a trading standards type claim and the threat to use or use of a Solicitor is a last resort i was just suggesting Muddy makes sure he keeps good records of all contact with the dealer. As good contemporaneous notes are worth their weight in gold it you cant reach a satisfactory resolution.

I am sure we all wish Muddy the best of luck sorting this. However i had to take the dealer to the wire to get my money back and a parts supplier to small claims to get my money back on a gearbox repair

Dealer has now offered a measly £31000 p/x after they damaged my 2 1/2 year old RRS with 22k on the clock that was immaculate - £58000 to buy a new one with same spec or £47000 for a 12 month old Vogue Shocked

Threaten to sue them if they don't give you a good deal!

Is that really a bad offer? Obviously I don't know the spec of your car, but if it's a 2009, then it looks like you could go out and buy another one owner car with 5-10k miles for that price! You can't really expect them to give you money to buy a new one to replace a 30 month old car. Thumbs Up

I'd take the £31k and put it towards a TDV8. Or maybe hold out for a bit more, but be reasonable, I'm sure Gaz will give you a figure for the top book value of your car? Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

bozmandb9 - Similar 59 plates on autotrader are £36500 to £39995 Rolling Eyes

I purchased the sport after years of envy and planned to keep it 5 years then look at revised RRS or RR - I now have a damage repaired vehicle that has been a pain in the Censored since I got it and having just replaced my 5 year old freelander last month with a mini - no spare cash Evil or Very Mad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Fair enough.

I see you can get a 2009 TDV8 for around that price too. (http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201225475945825/sort/default/usedcars/maximum-age/up_to_3_years_old/maximum-mileage/up_to_20000_miles/model/range_rover/make/land_rover/postcode/ox106bn/radius/1500/page/1?logcode=p

You should push for top replacement cost of your car, rather than trade in value!

Or maybe ask if they have any other way to get you into a TDV8 which you'd find satisfactory. Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!
