Hi all,

First time post, please be gentle..!!

I have a 2003 4.4 Vogue on Gas, had it now 2 weeks and loving it, bar the odd niggle - ABS sensor failure and when I had LR recalibrate the ride height, a couple of days later the EAS went inactive....LR read and cleared the fault on the NSR Height Sensor which we have put down to lack of use as the previous owner had the ride height calibrated 2.75" lower than normal, so when I asked for it to be corrected, they reckon the upper portion of the senor was a bit cruddy and the recal upset things.....that was 12 days ago, so fingies crossed all is well....

On to the Q.....

The well documented Steering wheel drive motor(s) failure.....

Looking to reduce component failure, so if I can stop the system from retracting and extending each time the ignition is turned on or off etc, I feel it would be beneficial....

If I just pull the two plugs to the motors (C1394 and C1395) would this be a solution or will it throw up a fault or two??

Or is there a software way of doing this....??

I am saving the pennies at the end of the month to get hold of the All Comms from RSW (Funds can't stretch to Hawkeye or Faultmate Extreme just yet), does the All Comms have the ability to switch this function off?

rover all comms can switch the steering column off , i've done this and have had no problems..

You can just set the steering wheel to where you want it to be then unplug the two motors. It won't throw up any faults (well it didn't on mine anyway )

That was my original plan, but if the short-one (the girlfriend) gets the opportunity to drive it, the faf to replug it in takes the edge of the solution....

Hi DB,

Yes seems more L322 biased than the 'Other Site' so with luck will be a vaulable asset in the arsenal, and I hope to be a productive member too....

She did let me buy it, so would be kind of wrong to say no....but that would be the ultimate solution, and cheaper too!!

The easiest way is to motor the steering wheel into the dash as far as it will go, then adjust the seat so you can reach. The column never needs to move then. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster
