My FF had just been serviced when I got it but I do a lot of miles so servicing will be needed sooner rather than later. What's the typical servicing costs from a main dealer and the savings if I have it done by an indy?

It has a full LR service history so far, so would be nice to keep it that way but I don't want to be completely bent over either.  Lloyd Barnes

Oil service was £480 for me at a main dealer. The track rod end, brakes and others bits pushed the bill to about £1400 though.

I have had a similar experience. Oil service looks like reasonable value at main dealer to maintain the stamps, then they find the extras! Brake discs are considered sacrificial now so with the Brembo brakes expect a complete set of disks at under 30k miles.

You could consider registering in your local LR dealers Allegiance Scheme (for LR's older than 3 years) which saves 20% on service costs, parts etc and supply your own oil which also saves a bit. Forum sponsor Opie does good deals on oil.

I had an inspection 1 carried out last month for the 4.2 s/c for around £230 with me providing the oil at ~£50. Was originally quoted £420 all in.

Worth a look if you like the LR stamps.

Fortunately I knew my brakes were (scored on the back and worn pads on the front) so it wasn't a massive surprise. They also put in a new sidelight bulb and cleaned the car as well as knocking 20% off parts and rebalancing my wheels. So overall the service was really good and knowing they are close to work and very accommodating is good.

Good quality discs and pads can be had for quite a reasonable cost, it may be worth taking care of these type of things outside the dealer network and restricting them to simply the basic service and stamping the book.

That how i usually work it. Dealer for service and indy/home for brakes, exhausts, repairs out of warranty

Just a thought. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

i went in to the dealers and asked for 8 plugs and an oil filter, i do all my servicing my self as i fill the dealers are way to high,i find if you have a local garage tat know his stuff you are better of going there.i get my oil from work..castrol fully synthetic and always buy genuin parts, any way he put them down and said £200 odd quid, i said how much off you are joking, £19 EACH, i phoned BMW they do the same plugs for £69.00  V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

That sounds interesting. I'm more than happy to swap out brakes etc myself ( in fact it needs some pads now as they squeal like a piggy at traffic jam speeds... V embarrassing )

I would if possible like to keep the LR stamp though. I'll check out the Allegiance Scheme. Do all the dealers do that? Think our local one would be Shukers Shrewsbury.

The scheme seems to be run thru dealerships and you get a personalised card and acces to a web page which details your car and services you have purchased.

I searched for Shukers one, and they seem to do their own scheme (for all marques).

I telephoned LR Customer services who said it was a dealership thing so maybe all dealers don't do it.

Just Google'ing LR Allegiance gives numerous hits for a lot of dealers.

I don't mind getting them to do the service just for the stamp, the other things like brakes, thermostat and rear parking sensor faults I have done myself (with the help of the IDII Tool).

my local dealer doesn't run any kind of schemes!! i think it is because they are an independant company and choose not to. the other nearest dealership is a branch of Stratstones and they do. so i think it is very much up to the dealerships. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Had a root about on the net and Shukers do do an Allegiance Scheme so I've applied for that. First though some new pads. Anyone got any recommendations for where to get pads that don't do an impression of Deliverance? Lloyd Barnes
