ok thats all five now gone, yes you can use you old key but you have to be careful not to make it to short as it will rub on the trim around the ignition. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

I called Timpsons Head ofice and explained I wished to have a blank cut at my own risk at a local branch, customer service was very helpful, contacted the branch and they agreed to cut it for me at my risk.

thus a phone call makes getting it cut easy, Current vehicles

well, got the manager to program a Timpson T4 chip for me at the same time, so key cut plus a spare blade and coded chip for £40.

got home and made the timpson chip fit with the coil nearest the ingnition, left it in the car running for about 2 hours to charge.

carried out Daves guide to program in all my keys and ha presto!!! I have a working flip key.

fantastic, thanks Dave for the supply of the blank , I now have a spare as I also made a original spare blank fit!.

dremel out the chrome key ring hole a bit as was more like a camera strap slot that a key ring holder!!!!

Dave, you're right about the blade, if cut too short it rubs. Mine is only just clear. Still can't use it to open and close the doors though, despite the fact that I have it on the North American frequency. Sad MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

sounds like you need to let it charge up with the engine running with it in the ignition, at least 2 hours, then follow daves programming steps. Current vehicles

i have my new flip key all cut and assembled, programmed it in the car and it opens and closes the doors fine but wont start the car, i have put the original transponder from my old spare key into the new flip key - the car starts fine with my original old style key and if i then try and attempt to start the car with the flip key it works and starts the car fine but if i try and start the car with the flip key after opening the car with it, it will not start?? any ideas??

The transponder ship is very sensitive and needs to be as close to the edge of the fob as possible, even a few mm difference cause the car to lock up if not in the right position. There should be a slot to perfectly match the transponder chip and keep it in place on the fob under the rubber inlay.

You can hear the car unlock the steering column when the chip is in the correct position before you even turn the key. Tom

the chip is also directional, so ensure you fit it in exactly the same orentation as the original key, you can prove it by just holding the chip near the ingnition hole area, you will hear the unlock of the barrel to allow turning.

try the key in both sides, as mine was tight to begin with in one way, but has now bedded in and works both ways smoothly.

the Timpson T4X chip I bought to allow me to keep my original key as a spare as well,

The Key chip was programmed in their machine and then via the car with my original key, then saved on their machine again.

works a charm, well worth the £40 for the chip and cutting of 2 blanks.

I have keep the blank from yourself as an emergency backup.

I then as stated ran the car with the new fob in it for about 2 hours and then programmed all keys.

worked first time.

I did not use the original key chip but it unlocks the barrel by just inserting it near the top of the barrel, so can't see why Flashman is having the issue described as if the chip works in his original should work on its own as the fob has nothing to do with unlocking of the barrel, the code is only on the chip.

I had to remove the support that acts as the stop for the slot for the land rover shaped one under the rubber inner slave.

This also had the square stop removed as their one is about half a length longer in a 3 mm dia glass tube.

This then presses into the rubber inner sleeve when the case is put together, holding it suggly,

Remember visible coil nearest the key when flipped out to go into the ignition.

Thanks Rob Current vehicles

do you mean timpson the key cutting shops? it is starting to look like the new flip key has some how fried my original transponder chip as it wont even work back in the original landrover key anymore (it worked perfectly this afternoon no problems)
