IPad! I've got one and never use my laptop any more. I got the pad mainly to use in work as they clamped down on our Internet and 12h shifts are long without interweb. I tether my pad to my iPhone and surf till my hearts content. Never had a problem doing it. Now I dont use it for documents but I'm sure it would be great if needed. My 2 year old is amazing on it, he loads and closes his apps and plays the games and knows how to find his videos so they are very easy to use. I have little exposure to android but what I do have I found them quite hard to navigate. Probably due to lack of use etc rather than a quality of product. Looks like what it comes down to, is whether you want a 'open' or 'closed' system. The only real criticism of the Ipad is that it's a closed system, which you can't fiddle with. The thing is, it just works, and you wouldn't want to. I think it's an objection which is largely hypothetical. Probably 90% of users or more would never want it any other way, and it's actually also one of the key strengths of the Ipad.

Cant stop myself from having my say on this - having worked on virtually every operating system under the sun, virtually all makes of personal computer, been a programmer, app developer, tech support, network engineer and now in sales I cannot fault the day I converted from windows to Mac. (have to agree the Nokia 6510 was the best phone ever for calls).

Have a look at the other technologies you have in your house, phones,TV, PC's and the way you access your data whether that be music, video, office stuff etc. Also have a good hard think about what you actually want the product you buy to do. I have convinced many people to get a netbook instead of an iPad/Galaxy based upon their likely usage.

I'm a techie, a programming background to be exact, but I know I prefer an iPad as when I am at home I want stuff "that just works" rather than dicking around with settings to get the best out of it. My list of Apple tech has grown over the last year or two to: Macbook Pro 17" (16Gb ram + SSD) used for work Thunderbolt display iPad 1,2 & 3 iPhone 3G, 4, 4S x2 Macbook Air 11" AirPort Extreme TimeCapsule Magic Mouse Wired + Wireless keyboards Remote Apple TV About the only issue I had was the brand of SSD I put in my Macbook didn't support trim natively, so a tiny bit of hacking ensured that worked. I work with Microsoft technology in my job so I have exposure to both sides and to be honest Windows 7 runs better in a VM on my Mac than I have ever seen it run Natively on a similarly priced laptop. 07 Supercharged - Still breaking her in! Yeah, so I used to have a Macbook Pro 17 which was given to me as part of my job (Datacentre Design Architect) and I ended up bootcamping it to Win-7. That was a couple of years ago and my opinion of Mac-OS for what I need hasn't changed. It simple isn't fit for purpose in a corporate environment where I need to use software like AutoCAD and MS Visio.
