@Daveo.

Mine had the 2 pins with Coax. From what I understand the 4 pin is specifically for the 'vision assist' pack where in addition to the extra cameras the yellow lines 'bend' as you steer.

The loom on mine was, IIRC LR031460. i guess Dan can help.

I connected my camera to bench power supply and the video out lead to an oscilloscope and wiggled, tapped and twisted the PCB and the components soldered to it. I had suspected a dry joint on the main loom connector, but applying pressure and wiggling it had no affect. However applying pressure the camera lens caused the video signal to stop, and the power consumption to drop by 5mA.

I then took the camera down to the hardware team and asked one of the technicians to take a look. He inspected the board and could not see anything obvious, but suggested reflowing the solder joints around camera sensor. He did this and I reconnected to the power supply and scope, and his handy work seems to have done the trick Very Happy

I twisted, poked and pulled and could not recreate the fault. I've now refitted it back to the car its working, so time will tell whether it's really fixed.

My lack of patience caused me to refit before the silicon used to seal the two sides of the case had dried, so I'm praying its water tight.

Fingers crossed its fixed, but if I can get a MY2010 high def camera for the price mentioned above I will upgrade it.

I don't think I fully closed the boot when I finished removing the camera yesterday, and when i drove off this moring after a night of heavy rain, a deluge of water dropped onto my parcel shelf. I took it in the house to dry, and it dried with a horrible water mark Big Cry I've now soaked the entire surface with the hope it dries evenly.

My 2010 rear view camera is working, the picture is much improved and the reverse lines are really nice, apart from the fact that they are pointing towards the off side Thumbs Up

If I attempt to reverse into a space using the lines as a guide, the car is actually pointing towards the near side.

Has anyone else who has done the upgrade experienced the same issue, and have you overcome it?

I will have a play over the weekend to see if I can make a wedge to pull it back towards the centre.

In the mean time, can one of you chaps with a 2010MY, measure how far the bracket is from the corner, incase LR moved the position a few inches over.

Thanks,

Justin

@ Justin,

Mine are similar. Though I did use Butyl putty to stick and re-stick the camera until I got it reasonable. I did have to move the cam to the right about 35(ish)mm for the cable to clear the brake light though I may try to alter this when (if) I get any time.

I popped into the local LR dealership armed with a tape measure this lunch time, and I can confirm that the rear view camera has moved 7 cm to the right.

I've now drilled the new cable and rivet holes in the spoiler and moved bracket to its correct position. Sadly its made no difference to the hello guide-lines which are still pointing towards the off side, but at least the camera is in the right position.

It's a shame that i dremeled half the connector away yesterday evening to make it fit under the high label brake light, but thankfully my handwork is all hidden within the spoiler Smile

How comes you needed a new wiring loom and housing. You seemed to remove the old loom without any damage. Is the 2012 camera wired differently ? FFRR Virgin

Yes, the 2010 camera only has a plug and no wires are attached or are supplied with it. The connector is different from the loom in your vehicle.

Justin, when i put my first one in i put some small shims in (quite alot i think from memory) until the picture lines were perfect... I then put black mastic/bonding glue down the two sides to fill the imperfections/gaps and voila perfect...

On this car (my second one with the new camera) i purchased a 2010 camera and spoiler off eBay... Much easier! The metal work the camera mounts through is shaped slightly differently, working like my shims did in my original...

Hi my reverse camera has also broken and I have replaced a blown component however when I removed the loom I didn't make a note of what way round the plug went (pleb) and can be plugged incorrectly don't suppose you have a clearer pic of the plug connected? Can't quite make out from your pic what way round it goes!

Cheers Joe
