Depends on what sort of sights KP. We love lake Maggiore which is nice and quiet, decent restaurants, proper leather handbaggy type shops, walking, beering and generally nice.

Venice is great, and affordable, if you book direct.

I Have a friend who has a flat overlooking Lake Como. I went a couple of years ago to see The Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este http://www.concorsodeleganzavilladeste.com/en/

With regards to food, do what I used to do when I worked there (and didn't speak any Italian yet). Just go down the menu to something you haven't tried before, Italian food is gorgeous. Try Risotto Nero if you get a chance MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

A quick nose around seems to show plenty of holidays in Venice being the long city break type which at £250 a pop for 3/4* and including flights, B&B seems to be a good deal to me really
