I'm looking for a FFRR Vogue and every now and then I see adverts that say Vogue HSE or HSE but the rear end picture of the car has a vogue badge on it.

Is it common for HSE owners to change the badges?

I thought that the HSE range didn't have the sat nav or could this be specified as an option? The reason I ask is one ad sad HSE, had Vogue on the back and a sat nav so I just assumed it was a Vogue.

What other 'tells' should I be looking for to determine if the RR is actually a vogue?

I've seen an almost perfect car which is advertised as a HSE but again, has the vogue badge. I don't want to have a wasted trip.

All optional on an HSE... Dead give always are the dash top and grab handle/elbow rest will be in stitched leather in a vogue and in non stitched leatherette in an HSE the seats have an expandable seam running down from top to bottom and the front seats are a different shape and style in a Vogue...

If someone actually lists it as an HSE then it probably is - the problem is usually the other way round because the FFRR doesn't have a name like 'Sport', there are a lot of people out there who generically refer to the model as Vogue, hence the Vogue HSE ad. You may see HSE's advertised as Vogues, even when still badged HSE !

Not uncommon for them to be re-badged or even have a number of Vogue bits as factory extras

My HSE certainly has, as mentioned, you could option an HSE with pretty much everything, which is one of the reasons I don't think I found 2 identical cars when looking for mine.

I know what I drive, and I am happy with it, so I don't see a need to stick a Vogue badge on it...

Mine is an HSE and apart from the Sunroof, mine is pretty much Vogue spec. As has been mentioned, I dont think no 2 are the same, depends what options were ordered from new. Mine was originally owned by a local(ish) wealthy business person and was driven by his wife, so he ordered alot of options. Would probably have been cheaper for him to have brought a Vogue for her anyway back in 2003!

I would go on what you are happy with owning. The only badges on mine are "Range Rover" and the Oval badge on the grill, which I did change to a black one, and yes I know mines not supercharged, but it goes with the colour!

As others have said, the only real way to tell is the different seat style.

and even then, a lot of owners of older HSE's have bought Vogue seats from a breakers yard to upgrade their HSE's. The only categoric way is do a check on the VIN - any decent main agent should be willing to do this.

Do not get stung and pay over the odds for a specced up HSE badged as a Vogue, you might be happy with it, but it will come back and bite you when you come to sell it.

And not to forgot the Vogue SE just to complicate matters

Just to add more confusion, mine is a hse and has tons of extras including front and rear electric seats which according to above pics says was not available as an option for hse! 2003 Range Rover HSE 3.0 TD6
Java Black, Cream Leather Heated seats all round, Sat Nav, Rear TV's.

I'm not interested in this car but I think this is an example of an ad that's just wrong.

There's no Sat/Nav which, from what's been said, were standard on the Vogue, but it does have a sunroof and heated rear seats which must be an option.

In fact when I take a closer look it even says HSE on the back!
