Transmission reset.

My Google mojo has left me - how do I reset the adaptive learning on the transmission? 4.4V8 petrol - something like key in accessory position and floor the loud pedal for 30 secs isn't it?

I read something along the lines of:

- Hold accelerator to the floor
- Turn ignition to postion 2
- Wait 60 seconds
- Turn ignition off

Seemed to work for me the other day, however the dealer reset is better (done by updating the software) but it costs.

Cheers Pie,

Why do you think it's not as good as a dealer reset? What difference is there between me resetting the adaptive learning and the dealer doing it?

I could definitely tell a difference both times, but when the dealer did it along with a software upgrade it seemed much different. Still hasn't cured my kickdown issues though :/

I suspect it's the effect of the software update that made the dealer reset seem different!

If that is the case then I'd recommend it! Thumbs Up

I don't think there is one for my 4.4.

France

To my knowledge , there hasn't been software updates for the pre 2005 FFRR in years , so what may apply to your 20007 will not apply to a pre 2005 .

The pre 2005 reset is
Turn key first steop , floor the accelarator for more than 30 seconds , then turn key back to Zero position .
and i believe take key out . wait for a few minutes and start your engine .

Thanks Jaybear,

That was pretty much how I remembered it - and it does appear to have reset.

Thanks.
