Been at the Dealer for a week now...

My local dealer have 'taken over' the reins of my car as they are in the same group (Stratstones) and much nearer. I trust the guys at Nottingham more as I bought my RRS from them a few years back and they know me too, we get on OK and have an understanding. Cool

It was mainly in to have all 4 wheels refurbed after the Censored tyre monkey trashed them at the Solihull dealer, this has been done but the TPMS module now needs replacing, so they're doing that tomorrow. While it was in I thought I'd capitalise on it and get them to tweak a few bits such as: (I always maximise use of the warranty where I can and actively look for things that might not bother most people but I want it perfect)

* Headlining come adrift at rear nr top tailgate
- The fix is apparently a complete new headlining and I'm waiting on approval for this from the Solihull dealer

* Drivers seat squab edge - leather is cracking and wearing through
- Waiting on Land Rover approving a brand new seat (There's an LTB about Warranty claims for this)

* OSR Door not aligned with wheel arch and needs adjusting

* NSF Roof channel popping out, needs replacing + Painting

* OSF bumper lower plastic trim needs sorting out, Solihul arsed it up and it looks a mess, nothing put back how it should be
- Fix involves completely removing bumper and reassemble with new parts where required

* Fuel filler neck needs replacing as refuelling is difficult and slow

I don't mind that they've had it this long, nor that it will inevitably go back to have some of these bits done when approval is gained and parts are in, just as long as it gets done and done right.

So, this thread is not a moan, just an FYI! Smile Discovery 4 HSE

Have they given you a courtesy car?

Sounds like lots of little niggles but like you say get them sorted while the warranty is there and then enjoy the car.

I also always take full use of the warranty and get little bits done that perhaps i'd usually tinker with. TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

Yes, they gave me a Freelander which has been surprisingly ok, it's only an XS model so quite basic.

I took it shooting on Saturday and have 5 of us in it and all our gear, it was a bit tight but it managed fine. The computer in it says its doing 30mpg but I seem to be forever filling it up!

They will get a shock when they see the state of it after I've been using it.... Shocked Discovery 4 HSE

The car is back...for now

OK, I finally got the car back and some of the niggles have been sorted:

* All alloys refurbed and looking very nice
*Slightly loose mudflap panel refitted properly
*Front bumper trim all refixed properly
*Rear Door realigned

But the following is still outstanding:

*TPMS was fixed but then came back on during the journey home Evil or Very Mad (How unstable is this poxy system?)
*Drivers seats leather replacement on approval from LR
* New Fuel filler pipe on back order
*Roof channel on back order
*new headlining a WIP

Which brings me to my big bugbear.

WHY OH WHY when the technicians handle any part of the interior of these extremely plush cars do they not have the basic common sense to wash their F Censoredg hands first or at least put on a new pair of latex gloves?

My steering wheel, gear selector and door handle gave me black hands from touching them and my headlining and pillar covers and sun visors are all now covered in dirty marks and fingerprints where they have obviously tried to see how to get it out. Now I know this is hopefully going to be fully replaced but the principle remains the same, and I can see them doing it to my new one when it gets installed.

Are they F*****g thick or something? Is it just me?

Do they do the same thing at BMW, Mercedes, Aston Martin or Bentley dealers too?

This is the type of inconsiderate attitude that reminds me that your car always comes back fromm a dealer with more things to get angry about. Evil or Very Mad Discovery 4 HSE

oh yes thats fairly typical of a LR main agent - in my experience they are all thick (read as don't care) and work to the same Censored standard!

We currently run 7 here and the tossers look after them all to the same diabolical standard

sorry pardon my frustrated language

That's because LR has lost it's prestige and they now all come from main stream makes.

Just ask your self the question, what % of RR do they sell against, lets say freelander, that any Jo soap can buy.

Here's 2 pics to show what I mean, the first shows the front passenger A pillar, look how grubby it is now.

The 2nd is one of the newly refurbed alloys which so far on initial inspection I am happy with.

thats all so true and unacceptable but they get away with it and yes the techies are thick as a plank when i had my air con sorted they needed the car on 2-3 seperate occasions to determine the fault each time they left half a toolbox draw of tools under the bonnet Sad Sad

thats why i try to do as many of the jobs myself and only resort to the dealer when im really unable to do the job myself onto no6 Range Rover

RRUK, wheels look great Thumbs Up Where was your roof channel lifting?? I have a similar problem with front left. It seems to want to snap back into place but just pops right back up. When you get your fitted, see if they use some type of adhesive or if it just snaps into place. I'd be interested to know so keep us posted.

Cheers,

Mike.

Canuck,

They are replacing the roof channel, I think the clips on it are bust and the only fix is to renew because it also has to be sent off to paint first.

If you look at the roof channel there is a fat part about 3cms wide and then a thin strip down the side. This is the bit on mine which is sticking up and won't go back into it's slot.

I'm not entirely sure how much of it is being replaced but as long as it gets fixed I'll be happy. Discovery 4 HSE
