TD6 Starting woes - Please Help

2003 L322 TD6 115000 miles

Got in yesterday and tried to start the car - engine turned over slowly and failed to start. thought it was battery so connected up booster box and tried again, No effect - same slow turn over booster box went flat.

connected new fresh battery again no change. This battery also went flat quickly.

Cleaned all battery terminals connected fresh charged battery - no change same slow turn over. Big Cry

Now thinking Starter motor

Anyone had a sililar experience, should I look at anything else first?

thanks Martin

UPDATE......................

A friend said to check the earth of the engine so I connected a couple of spare jump leads across various parts of the engine - again no change.

charged both batteries and the boost box up and connected them all in parallel, so had about 260 amps connected and again it turned over slowly then suddenly freed itself and burst into life .

Took it for a spin after disconnecting the leads and its now fine, behaving normally.

I'm still thinking its starter though and will get this checked out.

thanks for looking.

sounds like it to me or that the terminations on the motor are corroded and thus not allowing enough juice to flow thru Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
