still on the tailgate split. I've squinted with and without glasses on and it still looks like low down. I cannot see any break in the camo on the nearside where we would expect the normal split to be.

I suspect this is a customer feedback thing. The Classic boot was shallower and you could just about reach the back, the P38 was a stretch and I cannot reach something that has rolled to the front of the boot on the L322 without climbing on the bottom tailgate. I dont consider myself vertically challenged at 6'. The D4 has the stylised kink in the lower tailgate and it is easier for access to the boot.

I think Mick that is where the chrome finishing strip will be going. This is something on the RRS and Evoque and I believe it will be all the way across on the L405. The strip was changed for chrome from grey on 12MY L322 but obviously doesn't go the full way across.

I am assuming tailgate will be powered and a split at the L322 level will not work well IMO.

Think about the lower tailgate though ... how much do you need it to stick out for it to be useful.

For me, it only needs to extend past the bumper to:
- stop my clothes hitting the dirty bumper when leaning into the bootspace.
- stop my legs hitting the bumper when I'm sat on it legs dangling.

A shorter tailgate wouldn't go amiss compared to the L322. V8 or else ...

They can use snap on plastic panels to cover the real panel beneath so we will see how close this is later in the year.

You have to wonder why F1 teams don't use the zebra paint scheme to hide the parts they don't want other teams to clap eyes on easily, and yes, would love a wrap that looked like it! Discovery 4 HSE

Another vote for 'just above the number plate'.

If you look at the left side, you can see where the vinyl wrap has covered the seam line - there's a hump in it.

...Looks very nice. (the car, not the hump) Researching my first Range Rover purchase

Again, I think that is merely where the finishing strip is. Look at 12MY RRS and RRE and you'll see what I mean. That is a Range Rover common feature I now believe. Both of those have single piece tailgates.

I think you're right. So looks like it's going to lose the split fold tail gate and have the same sort of set up as the RRS Sad That would leave the D4 as only LR offering this handy seat/table.

Why would Land Rover do away with one of the fundamental features of a Range Rover? My vote goes for a split tailgate above the number plate in keeping with previous versions Thumbs Up I don't think we should be drawn in to comparisons with "pretend" models Whistle

The upper part could cover some of the lower when closed.

Doesn't look so bad from that angle.
