De-tango'ing headlights in MY07 S/C.

I'm finally picking up my 2007 S/C next week (have been toying with the idea for months). Very excited!

I want to keep the car pretty much as it left the factory, although the one thing I would like to do is get the orange reflector removed from the headlights. The car is nicely colour coded already and so to my eye, that orange strip doesn't look right (it's like on the older Porsche Boxsters - the 'fried egg' effect on the headlight really ruined the look of the car).

Back in January I did stumble across a guy on eBay that fitted 'angel eye' style LED halos (similar to the MY2010 lights, but not an exact replica) and whilst I'm not interested in that, he also said he could swap out the orange reflector for a clear / white one. However, I didn't make a note of his details and I can't find the ad again for the life of me.

Has anyone done this or know a man that can?

Thanks in advance peeps. Thumbs Up Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

Check out this thread from the RRS site

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic25871.html

There is a member on the RRS site who makes the clear reflectors (immensamind IIRC) but I am sure it is mentioned in the linked thread.

Hi Daveo - I probably didn't explain myself very well. I was basically looking of a way of removing the standard orange reflector in the headlights.

Just like this guy has done with his RRS (but without all the colour coding...just a clear reflector) -

Simon - that thread links to exactly what I want to do - just take the orange out and stick a clear or smoked one in but that guy only makes clear reflectors for RRS - unless they happen to be the same size...which I doubt.

I'll ask and report back...

ok, as luck would have it i had the trims on my bench
they are removable and would be used as marker lights in the states as they can take a bulb T10
but i have had several of these lights apart and its a far job,

Perfect, so if I can get hold of a clear reflector it could be a straight swap.

Can I ask how easy / difficult they were to take apart? Any chance of a 'how to'? Wink Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

You need a heat gun to melt the glue....

i will be doing a how to tutorial shortly on fitting led halos it will show you how to get them apart, you need to get the light nice and hot, yes i do use a heat gun but i putt the light in front of the oven first to get the temp up, you need to melt the mastic around the lens and pry open slowly making sure you keep it hot.. major tip is to watch out for the mastic it can get messy and you don't want it over the inside.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Craig, that looks well, have you put a light behind it, did you have to split the unit as well... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Like that Craig. Like that a lot.

And you've just made sense of the 'fluorescent light strip modification' comment someone made on another forum...! Wink Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

Yes an orange LED trailer marker light and a red one in the rear lights...

Cant split the 09> lights by the heat method unfortunately so had to cut it apart and plastic weld it back together Banging Head
