I've been asked to drive and take the FF as a wedding car. There would be the getting there and back approx 170miles, plus the usual hanging around. Delivery to and from the church,etc.

Any ideas? Ballpark sort of money?

The person concerned is father of the groom, an aquaintance rather than best muckers if you get my meaning.

Drove to Germany to use as a wedding car a couple of years ago as FF's are as rare as hens teeth there apparently! Although it was for a life long friend... Accepted a gift as thanks...

Well to give you some idea, I paid somebody to drive me around the same distance and similar time involved, I paid £120, but that was being driven in a boring blobby Volvo, so his fuel costs were much lower than yours will be. Let's say he did £40 in fuel, he made £80 for the day.

Your fuel cost will be probably £55, I guess valeting would be an extra £50, so costs only would be around £100, before wear and tear.

Did they say they'd want to pay you, or are they trying you because they want it done for free? Is it for the bride? Really depends on whether you'll enjoy it. Not going to get rich off it for sure, and as pointed out, you want to watch out with the insurance! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

note that it could be difficult for the bride adorned in her wedding dress to get in and out of the back of the fullfat... ... - .- -.

I'd advise making the front passenger seat off limits, then having it moved all the way forward but setting the car to access for the in-out jobs and maybe using a step like a caravan one to help even more, even if you have side steps.

As per above as well get the insurance as at least its there.

I can't see why insurance would be an issue if you're not asking for payment. Minimum you'll be covered for Social Domestic & Pleasure - if this is done as a favour for a friend then surely it's social? And if you're not working for "hire ior reward" then AFAIK there's no issue with the friend covering the (fuel) costs. It's only a problem if it becomes a commercial transaction, surely?

Will you be going to the wedding anyway? Do it as a favour, bask in the bride's happiness and your mate's gratitude, and accept the proffered bottle of scotch as a thank you!

Done it for free recently but was obnly a short distance, about 10 miles round trip, and was a life long mate getting married.......................

The 3 bridesmaids aged 16, 18 and 20 in the back had nothing to do with it
