Door Lock Problem after removing door card.

Help - I've broken my car again!! Big Cry

Hope someone can help with this....

Have noticed lately that the inside door handle driver side is stiff and noisy, and thought i should try to get some lube in there before it seized up.

Read instructions and removed door card - no problem - had a look in - nothing seemed amiss - so sprayed load of multi lube around the inside of the lock , pulled the cable a few times and seemed less stiff.

After lots of fiddling about (and breaking most of the retaining clips) - I got the card back on.

Problem is the door lock isn't talking to the car!!

Can lock the drivers door with the key in the lock, can lock the rest of the car with the fob. When i drive off get a warning "door open". The controls on the door will open and close the driver's side window and mirror - but will not control any of the other doors?!

Took the card off again (twice), unplugged ell the multisockets and replugged them all - no better.

What have i done??
Do I have to reset something?
Have i short-circuited something with the excessive use of multilube??

Any ideas would be appreciated.....

battery dis' and re-connection might help, if that dont work then re-check the plug connections again and make sure nothing is caught by the card.. ... - .- -.

Arrgh- I can't face taking it apart again

Only joking - I've ordered some more trim clips. As you say, surely i've just not plugged something in properly. I'll wait until i've got enough time to do it properly and have a good check over. Ive got a diagnostic kit - so i'll plug that in too and see if there's any error codes.

I already tried disconnecting the battery last night and that didn't work Sad

I also tried this procedure to reset the lock (from another forum but that dodn't work either)

Quote:
I was told to put the door card back on with all connections then if you look at the door edge near the latch, there are 2 rubber grommets. If you close the striker with a screwdriver then remove the lower grommet just above the latch and loosen the screw a few turns (clockwise, left hand thread) then retighten, it should reset the lock.

So - i suppose that would all fit with a bad connection.

On a positive note - the inside handle is nice and smooth now - so the original problem seems to have been rectified......

Well you were right Stan.

I had missed a connection Embarassed

I had the door card on and off a few times and it's a real fiddle to hang back on the clips at the top so i had taken the surround for the tweeter speaker off at one point and disconnected another cable there!!

I'm a dab hand at taking the door apart now though. Had it off and on in 20minutes this time and all working well. I can give advice to anyone who wants about the process i found to be the easiest.

Just shows you that sometimes you have to leave it for a while and start again with a fresh outlook.

Thanks for the advice Stan. Need to have a go at wiring up that camera now - Was cut up by an idiot in a Cheyenne tonight who swerved in front of me. Grrr.
