Rotary volume control playing up :-(

Hi Guys,

The rotary volume knob on my touchscreen unit has started playing up. When I turn the volume down it sometimes increases before it reduces and vice versa.

It's not covered by the LR Select warranty and I imagine a replacement unit will be very expensive. Has anyone else had this problem, and do you know if the rotary encoder is optical, if it's not then it may just need a clean.

Thanks,

Justin

Mine does that too, sometimes the volume won't adjust at all on either the steering wheel or the touchscreen.. I just put it down to electrical gremlins.. I turn off the screen and back on and all good again.. Thumbs Up

My steering wheel controls are 100% reliable, so your problem looks to be different from
mine. As a precaution, check your boot for dampness.

its not optical, i have one in bits, its resister based and there is not much visible but i would go for a few squirts of contact cleaner, you have nothing lose.

but you will have to completely dismantle to get to the switches, i would not take the chance spraying it from the front.

I just had mine replaced under the LR approved warranty last week, apparently the replacement unit cost £1516.56 Shocked

Glad the warranty company picked that one up...

I had the same symptoms as you describe with the rotary switch doing what it feels like but eventually working. My steering wheel controls were always OK.

Would try switch cleaner first if you don't have warranty cover Thumbs Up

is it not possible to just buy a replacement board? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

pretty sure its denso.

Round here we have a place called mobile solutions, they seem to have the ability to repair quite a lot, maybe there is somewhere similar near you who can perform a fix.

Or maybe an electronics services http://electronicservices-derby.co.uk/electronic-services ? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
