United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Indus Silver

Umm Baben, is stonosam's car a 5.0 supercharged like yours by chance? Rolling Eyes I'm getting a sinking feeling that maybe a gearbox update for petrol vehicles will work but why would there be a gearbox update for the 3.6 TDV8 diesel when it never had paddle shift, it was only introduced on 11MY 4.4 diesels with the rotary gear knob and why would the dealer do a software update to a car with a different engine and probably gearbox too Shocked

Let's see what they have to say later this week and I can but hope Confused

Yes, Stono is a 5.0 s/c. BUT, until the new models were released sometime around 2011, we had no idea there was gonna be a paddle shift either, so perhaps the diesel will work. Have you opened up the steering wheel to see whether the little socket exists that you need to plug the paddles into? If the hardware is right, perhaps there is hope for the software.
Plus, in Faultmate, the "Gear selector switches (steering wheel mounted)" option is available regardless of what engine type. Perhaps there is hope. Lets see what happens

Yes the hardware is fine, paddles all wired up and illuminated Thumbs Up

Looks like I may be the "diesel guinea pig" then Whistle I'm always up for the challenge and it's a cheap and easily reversible upgrade if it's not possible Confused

I'm still not convinced it will be possible as I remember reading that paddle shift was introduced for 11MY together with the rotary dial for the gearsl but our friends "state side" still retained the "man stick" with paddle shift for a while as there was a delay in introducing the rotary switch on the 5.0 SC Sad

All speculation at this stage though, Baben does your chassis number end AA****** or BA****** Question

NB: Still no rotary shift for Supercharged models, including 12MY. The gearbox and stick shifter remains the existing 6 speed one which was updated when the 5.0V8SC was introduced.

UPDATE:

First off I have now established that a main dealer cannot enable paddle shift as their system does not extend to include all the CCF options Big Cry This means anyone wishing to have working paddles on a 2010MY needs access to a faultmate or similar or deep pockets to buy one Shocked

As to whether a software update to the gearbox is needed or not for the paddles to operate when enabled I will never know as it "seems" mine somehow now has the latest software version installed Whistle

I just now need to find someone with a 2010 multi-vehicle faultmate licence that's a bit closer than South Africa Rolling with laughter

Sadly not yet - I am still looking for someone with a Multi-Vehicle Faultmate licence Sad

On recommendation I emailed someone a couple of weeks who apparently can help but they have yet to reply to my message Big Cry

At this point there is no need to "name and shame" as there may be a very valid reason. Will keep you informed of my developments.

Ok so latest update Exclamation

It's fair to say a faultmate owner with the required multi-vehicle licence for 2010MY onwards in the UK is as rare as well.........(add your own chosen metaphor) Sad

Solution?.......Buy one yourself Whistle So I am now the proud owner of a faultmate extreme with the said MV licence which hopefully may come in handy for others Thumbs Up

Keen to activate the paddles myself I hooked up the kit and enabled the steering wheel gear select option in the CCF and

It doesn't work Big Cry

I have checked my transmission software and my car shows 'AD' as the last two digest and not the required 'AJ' so either my dealer didn't update the software or if they did 'AD' must be the latest they have for a 3.6 TDV8 engine. I have yet to check this out as it was done somewhat "under the radar". Whistle Maybe 'AJ' is only available or supported for use on 5.0 petrol engines as I first feared but I'm not giving up just yet Wink

Hi Andy,

You need to find a dealer who has access to an Autologic diagnostic system and they can download the latest software from the main Autologic site.

That is untlmately where I ended up when I had all but given up on my MY10 supercharged 5L and it worked.

Unfortunately I am in Oz otherwise I could have given you the name of the dealer that did it for me.

Best of luck.

Stonosam

Hi all, new to all things Range Rover! Have fitted the paddles as Ajay has into a 3.6 TDVE 2010 vogue and of course they don't work. Spoke to Craig at cam tech this morning who has confirmed your fears about the software not giving the paddle function or at least it not working. Just wondered how you got on with your mission?.

I'm still waiting to be able to flash the transmission software with my Faultmate Embarassed The BBS cogs of development & troubleshooting seem to have slowed more recently Big Cry It also appears that you have to flash the transmission with the 5.0 SC software and as this point no one can tell me what effect this may have on a TDV8 Shocked

I will be selling my car soon and so the faultmate will go too Rolling Eyes

Just worth noting, I have a 2010 5.0 S/C and I successfully retro-fitted the paddles. However the normal gearbox software for the 2010 5.0 doesn't work with paddles so I used a hybrid version from GAP (Site Sponsor) which has bits of the D4 software to enable the paddle function.

But, I recall the gearbox in the 5.0 is not the same as the 3.6. Same stick, still 6 gears etc but I believe it was updated for the extra power of the 5.0. I stand to be corrected here though.

Thanks for the reply Andy, dare I ask how much you may be asking for your faultmate?
