Squeal from fan motor when cornering/hitting potholes

Anyone had this before? When I corner too enthusiastically, or hit speed bumps/potholes, my heater fan motor starts to squeal. It goes away after 10 seconds or so, and also reducing or increasing the blower speed seems to stop it squealing.

I have had this on other cars, pretty sure it is a worn blower motor/bearing.

Does anyone know if this is a common BMW part, or RR specific? I have 03 model 4.4 Vogue. I feel a dashboard removal weekend coming on... again...

Cheers, Stuart.

I've not had this and I have a high mileage (120K) car and I also like to corner enthusiastically occasionally. I'd be interested to see if it is this, I just did a quick search on the BMW boards but only came up with a post about the serp' belt. It drives the Alt and the PS pump so under heavy load from turning and heavy electrical load he got a noise. Could it be that?

Sounds like your diagnosis is already quite accurate though, in which case could you take some photo's of the dash removal? Would be great to have them on file for future jobs!

Thanks all. Good point - better work out where this darn fan is... Confused

Mind you I had a lot of the dash apart to refit my TV screen, actually wasnt too hard.

I will certainly take some pics if I do this, but to be honest it is very intermittent right now and my wife would kill me if I spend a saturday "playing" with the car for something minor like this instead of being a helpful husband and father...
